I don't understand why Motorola makes these Verizon exclusive Droid phones. I'm sure they'd sell a lot more if there were GSM models.

I was thinking the same thing; an unlocked version would be very attractive and no doubt sell like hotcakes. It must be the profits; I'm guessing that the total cost to the buyer at the end of the contract is much higher than if they'd bought it unlocked, and part of that profit gets passed on to Moto.

And comparing it to the iPhone is irrelevant; iPhone buyers are buying into the brand. It's rarely about technical specs with them. This just gives Apple more ideas to copy. And re-badge with their gimmicky names so that they can pretend they "innovated" the idea.

Don't understand that either. I didn't notice that because I am a Verizon customer so that's the confirmation I needed and then I'm off to something else.

Blowing the iPhone out of the water is quite easy when one realizes that iPhone 6 specks are comparable to many 2013 Android phones.

In case that doesn't work, here are the figures for the US:

I thought the iPhone was doing better than that.

It's even lower according to this:

Well, I'll find out what it's like. I just ordered it.

A long battery life and a 21 pixel camera is not enough to make me switch from my iPhone. Plus at this point, pixel count means nothing because all camera phones still use a fixed lens, so there is no difference between 15 pixel and a 21 pixel.

Battery life means nothing for you? That's the biggest problem with most of the mobiles these days.
Tell us in which case you'd switch from iphone?
Also, it's far superior than iphone 6 in terms of RAM, Screen size etc. Iphone 6 looks like an adroid from 2012.

While Scruff is mostly correct concerning the camera, it is a giant leap in about every other way. Plus, for me the camera will be a big improvement over the Droid HD and Ultra that I currently use.

Plus, I bought a Nikon D7100 a few months ago for more serious use.

Please quote where I said "battery life means nothing to me." I'm just not going to jump ship for that one feature.

Functionality is more important to me that a longer battery life or a 21 pixel camera. This is how people get duped into buying inferior crap....they vastly improve one or two features, then people jump on it assuming all the other features are as good as what they're currently using. And this may be a fantastic phone but I'm not switching for those two features until I hear more about the rest of it's capabilities and reliableness.

Looks to me like most everything was stepped up substantially

    http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_turbo-6727.php

    even the processor

    Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
    CPU Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450

    and the screen

Type Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
    Size 1440 x 2560 pixels, 5.2 inches (~565 ppi pixel density)

It will be at least two weeks until everyone else catches up.

Except for Apple; I'd give them a year or so.
