i've read from researchers who determined that homosexuality exists in animals too have the same ideology that you can choose to become straight or a bisexual or gay - in short, if you choose to marry a woman, you're a bisexual who is turning straight...and if you choose to marry a man, you're a bisexual who choose to be gay. Technically, this seems to be true because if you exclusively choose to be with a woman when you still long for a man, it means you're a straight...it means you can be gay, straight or bisexual if you want to.

    is this true?

No, it's not true. Countless gay men have chosen to marry women, and it has not made them straight. It's made them miserable.

does that means sex only determine happiness? what about men who used to date only men before and married women and lead a happy life ? i mean for even non-religious people, there are many like that...the media might only showed you the religious 'ex gays'.

I think that basic sexual preferences are probably largely inborn. But it's not black or white ... there are shades of gray (or shades of gay). Additionally, unlike animals that just respond on a primitive level to hormones and stimuli, human beings can consciously choose how they will express their underlying basic attractions. So in the end, you get to choose how to express your sexuality. Some people choose a traditional heterosexual marriage. Others choose to be "gold star" gays and wouldn't dream of having sex with a member of the opposite sex. Each path has it's own costs and benefits, but it would be wrong to ensnare an innocent third-party without full disclosure. Life is full of compromise and I find naive the idea put forward by some that only by coming out and doing all of the stereotypical gay things can you be your "true" self. You are your "true" self wherever you happen to be at any moment ... even a closeted man or woman. You may wish to readjust the balance of certain things but you are nevertheless who you are, and there's nothing wrong with that if you're not hurting anyone else.

You seem to question yourself a lot...Over time it will drive you insane. You'll end up settling to make others happy, while your happiness will degrade and die...Bro...Just "BE"...The people who truly love you will embrace you...Think about it.

Q: how will you know if you're gay or straight ?
A: If you're straight, when you wank you think about fucking a girl. If you're gay, when you wank, you think about fucking a guy.

It is honestly tremendously simple. I fail to understand why some individuals (a) can't grasp this (b) have to use pseudo-science to back up bizarre claims ("it means you can be gay, straight or bisexual if you want to" - for a long time, I wanted to be straight, but I never became straight, I was just a miserable gay guy who wanted to be straight. You cannot change your sexuality.)

There are a lot of people that believe homosexuality can be reversed and that it is a choice. <--Immediately wipe those out of your mind. According to labels, if you're only attracted to females, then you're heterosexual. If you have thought about doing things with a guy, but prefer females and have never taken action to do said things with a guy or vice versa and want to do so, you're bi-curious. If you are attracted to females and males and have done things sexually with both (even if you have a sexual preference), then you're bisexual. If you like just guys or are female and just like females, then you're homosexual. But sometimes these labels end up getting confusing because of the actions that people take and, like one poster said, there are gray areas

There have been gays that have married females, but most likely for legal reasons, and I along with my bf have made out with girls just for the sake of doing it, but we wouldn't do anything else and would still be attracted to males. People that go clearly by the definitions of labels would say "Oh, well, that makes you bi-curious or bisexual.", but I know exactly what I am.

I think a good clue that you might be gay is when you choose the screen name: ANUS_DESTROYER

There is some truth to the 'choice' factor, for those who fall in the bisexual spectrum and are close to the center of that.

However, a majority of people are bisexual to a minor degree, say 90% hetero with a 10% leaning to homosexuality. They usually do not 'choose' to be in a heterosexual relationship, nor identify as heterosexual so much as a choice but as how they lead their lives.

Bisexuals, those who fall around 50/50 often do appear to choose their sexuality, identifying as hetero when with a person of the opposite gender or gay when with a person of the same gender because its the easiest label to carry without all of the questions that Bisexuals get hit with.

Sexuality varies from person to person based on many factors and due to external pressures.

We have no real handle on the real percentages. Some day 50% are actually bisexual, others insist its 90%, while others insist its less than 10%. Studies have not revealed much except that out of targeted sample population and how the question is asked is the biggest determination in how much people lie... or say one thing over another.

I think there's a lot of truth to that. I read about a study a few years ago in which they had straight men look at a picture of Cal Ripken hitting a baseball. They had a sensor that traced where the men's eyes tended to look. They found that the guys overwhelmingly tended to stare at Cal's crotch.

I believe your sexuality is determined at birth, it's the whole X Y thing...you can decide what type of man or women excites you, but not the gender...to quote a movie...you either suck dick, or you don't suck dick.

Isn't your sexuality determined by what your attracted to ? Marrying a woman wouldn't suddenly make you sexualy attracted to opposite sex . You'd still be gay lol
