For me, it's the confidence, maturity, and stability (for most older men, that is).

A subjectively rhetorical question; they may be hot to you but not to a majority of other guys.

I detect a trend. I think it's more common now to find younger guys who are attracted to older men. Family dynamics have changed over the past two generations and broken homes are very common. As Polfsky said, older men may represent stability to younger men who grew up in shifting families. But who knows?

I rarely find older men hot. I find them compatible, being older myself. And that cultural compatibility is very important to me. In fact, it's the most important. That overrides physical appearance and "hotness".

If it were all about appearance, then yeah, it's younger guys who are hotter. They always will be. But when you get past the hotness, what's an older guy donna do with him?

You don't relate to the same culture in which he was raised. You each know different music, different movies, different sporting milestones, different celebrities, different historical events, etc, etc. Even their language is different (at least in the US). We're not playing on the same sheet of music.

I suspect the elderly "hotness" derives from the perception that all we elderly gays have money. We don't. And that younger guys who find older guys hot are really fixated on the money, not the man. But perhaps I'm wrong. I've just seen too many gold-digger situations, young guys latching onto older daddies, that makes me a bit jaded and skeptical.

You dont like yourself because you are OLD and FAT?

I do like myself (within reason). I am certifiably old, but the fatness, after my cancer, is slowly going away. I'm 20 pounds less than I was just 6 months ago. Where in this thread did I say I disliked myself?

I recently dated a Man in His 90's.

I never had so much fun in My life.

He actually knew people I have only read about.

His eyes sparkled when He told jokes.

    He dressed beautifully.

He made EVERYone feel as if they were someone special.

I learned many things from Him.

Solely associating with those Your own age or younger is akin to the blind leading the blind.

Sit at the table with the Guys who have already done it.

That's Your only hope of doing it better.

And some just have more money

My Mother always encouraged me to associate with people smarter than me, and people who had done things I had not, to learn from them. And that included older people.

I often have drinks and meals with a guy who's not quite 90, but turning 89. He's been over to our place for dinner. I've posted his pics he's taken of my husband & me here on RJ. He's our most recognized gay photographer in South Florida. And still going strong.

The concept of age has been turned on its head. Thanks to modern medicine, and a better knowledge of healthy living habits.

Yeah, sit and talk with these really old guys, and learn something. Just like you don't know all the answers at 18 (but think you do), you don't know all the answers at 48, either. Nor do I at 65.

Truth is, nobody EVER knows all the answers. But the older you get, the more answers you're likely to know. Or at least have different viewpoints, that if guys are smart enough to understand them, can give a younger person useful perspectives to consider.

I'll echo this one Bob! And at 68 I both enjoy the wisdom of my older friends and the occasional genuine interest of my younger friends icon_biggrin.gif

I have a fantasy about seducing older men. One thing that doesn't go down with me well is reverse roles, I can smell loneliness and desperation a mile away.

so you apply that to the guy who married you as well? You were younger, I guess logic is not your strongest asset
married him for money? Being friends was not enough?

so for doing something better you have to date a corpse, makes perfect sense

    Which one?

    I have had three Husbands.

The last was 7 years younger than I and We were together for almost 14 years.

I have also had 154 BFs

I seem to do awright in the social department.

    I have MY own money.

And when I run out I can get more.

My first Husband was from one of the wealthiest families in the USA.

I didn't know that when I met Him.

He dedicated His Life to Civic Duty. He had more than 100 buildings in NYC landmarked. He was a noted Urban Historian. There are plaques dedicated to Him throughout this City. I held His ashes in My hand.

He never made more than maybe 59 Grand a year...but He made a difference.

My second Husband came from a far wealthier family than My own.

He liked ripped jeans and baseball caps

He showered Me with every luxury known to Man

To this day, if I need something -- He just appears and takes care of it.

    February '97

A vintage Lincoln parked in front of one of His restaurants

I fall in LOVE and say THAT car is ME.

    Valentines Day

    In front of Our House

THAT car with a big red bow

I have no idea how He did it

My lthird Husband was not from wealth

And he was younger than Me

    We loved each other

And nothing more needs to be said

    I mean nothing to you

    So just go away

Confidence is subjective. Not everyone is confident in every aspect of life. I think the line between confident and arrogant sometimes can get blurred.

I think society has changed with regards to perceptions of fitness along with body care, nutrition and men's overall "wellness". Men have learned how to promote "looking good" with their bodies over the last several decades. I've seen men in their 50's and 60's that still look fantastic and it is more than just good genes.

    I say, "more power"....

We aren't hot….. well some are. It depends what an individual deems hot. Some guys are a wealth of information, some guys need maturity, some need wealth. Some guys just like what they see. To each their own. I guess it's something that will always be discussed on here.
