someone on realjock went to a lot of effort to say this. wondering what are your thoughts on this?

if any thing i have has an 11% approval rating; dog, real estate, car, left lung i would get rid of it totally. Why did 96% of congress get re-elected?

the economy is sloooowly getting on track. The US government is shut down and the US government is not doing anything radical and the rest of the planet is in the same recession. All moving at the same speed.

Voters may disapprove, but hardly any of them jump to the other side. When compromise is elusive the players dig their heels in deeper.

Because the American voter is the most uneducated voter in the free world! this election was based on voter's anger and frustrations with the way politicians, from both oppositions are handling the economy! and when that happens the majority party in control looses!

We all know what happens and the consequences of getting angry and frustrated at a personal level, right!? as we tend to loose our senses of reality and its consequences!

I agree - they elected Obama president twice.

And they also elected President George Bush and President George W. Bush twice! a double whammy back to back, if that isn't stupid I don't know what is?icon_wink.gif

If you want truly stupid, look at the mass majority of urban voters in most older northern cities who kept blindly voting the democratic line for the past 50 to 60 years while these cities went into the sewer due to longtime democratic monolithic rule.

vote republican or democratic, just the same. Either one has the same campaign funding basics. It might take a few years for the republicans to catch up on gay rights tho.

Buffalo (i grew up in West Seneca) fell apart because the heavy manufacturing went off shore.

off shore 3rd world country; easy to get slave labor, destroy the environment, total access to the national banks

And if you want the stupidest ever, look at rural, conservative Southern voters in dirt poor states like Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama, who have kept blindly voting Republican for the past 40 to 50 years while these states have slid to dead last in health, education and quality of life measures, not to mention becoming the biggest welfare recipients in the nation -- leeching off of the economies of big blue states like New York and Califonrnia.

Or look at the gay men who blindly prop up their Republican masters, even as Republicans explicitly oppose the freedom and equality of gays, and actively try to deny basic civil and human rights to gays. Doesn't get any dumber than that.

Bear in mind that the idiots who voted for more-of-the-same are also a small percentage of the population. The rest didn't even care enough to vote. Several more nails in the coffin of democracy.

The gay couples who can now get married due to Democratic lawmakers in states passing marriage equality laws or due to the Obama administration's decision not to defend DOMA beg to differ along with:

    - the Americans who can now breathe easier as the Obama administration's policies (denounced as a "war on coal" by Republicans) have seen carbon emissions fall to the lowest levels

    - the factory workers whose jobs were saved due to Obama's decision to save the American auto industry when Republicans were calling for the opposite

    - the women receiving bigger paychecks after Obama signed the Equal Pay Act, which Bush had shelved

    - the millions who did not have health insurance that are now covered

    - the women in Republican-run states who are now seeing their access to safe abortions shrink as those states close clinics

    - the troops who are at home instead of in Iraq and Syria as Obama has resisted Republican calls for an out-and-out war and instead approved only targeted and limited action

The party platforms could not be more different. Maybe it will take another failed Bush administration to remind people.

The industry left Buffalo because of the excessively high taxes courtesy of the democratic party in city, county, and state governments. Also labor unions were bleeding the heavy industry dry so when the factories became too decrepit and obsolete, the companies simply closed them and moved to other parts of the US and also to third world countries. Buffalo and other older northern cities were ruined by longtime democratic rule. Over taxation of business and industry by the democratic party in order to fund their costly silver bullet redevelopment schemes, support the crooked labor unions and continually give generous free handouts to the unmotivated urban poor courtesy of the taxpayers. Buffalo and most other older northern cities need to be totally rid of the democratic party in city government and elect either moderate republicans or independents or members of any third party to run city hall. Enough of the corrupt, incompetent democratic party.

I remember discussing this phenom in my government class in the early 80s. Everyone LOVES their Congressperson (as they bring home the bacon, etc.) but feel the rest of those bacon tacklers are completely unworthy! Nothing really changes!
