    Hey Guys,

I plan to take my first solo trip alone sometime in the summer of 2015 or 2016, and for my first solo trip, I plan to go to California. When I travel to California, I plan to visit my aunt and uncle in Walnut, California, and explore Los Angeles and San Francisco. For those who live in California or traveled to California, what activities did you do in these cities? Which area did you stay or live at in the city, and why did you choose that location? I also plan on wanting to surf and check out a few LGBT Areas and Bars, mainly a Gay Sports Bar. What are some LGBT Activities you would recommend for me to see in these cities, and when in the summer time would it be best to travel to California. Again, this is my first time traveling alone, and I'd like it to be a fun adventure. Any help or insight I can get from anybody would truly be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brandon

For San Francisco, the last Sunday in June is the gay Pride festival - The city (and all its bars and clubs) is filled with gay guys that weekend. The Gay film festival runs for the 10 days ending in that last Sunday.

San Francisco has Baker Beach. If you get to San Diego, there is Blacks Beach.

I think you should get a Travel guide book for California and read up on it. Preferably a Gay travel one. It depends on what you're looking for. If you want to feel more of a city life, go to SF. It's a nice/great city to visit. If you want more of a beach, urban, sun-tan culture, come to LA/OC San Diego SoCal. Having lived in both NorCal and SoCal places, I like the beach areas the most - Malibu, Redondo, Manhattan, Newport, Laguna...etc. As for the bay area, SF is always nice, try Oakland, Berkeley, East Bay and Sonoma Wine Country. Gay pride festivals in LA in first week in June and SF pride is last week in June. I liked both places equally but since I'm in LA metro region, I'm giving SoCal an edge. icon_cool.gif

The city of Walnut is in Los Angeles County, San Gabriel Valley:

I have no idea where all of these abandoned buildings are. I don't see any of that in my area. I don't think that Walnut is having that issue either. I see builders trying to build on every last piece of land that they can find.
