Religious Right Aiming To Block All Obama Judicial Nominations

"I think the most important job of the Republican Senate is to defeat or reject, or not even take up, any of Obama's court nominees," conservative Phyllis Schlafly said. "He's already put too many liberals on the court, and we don't want any more."

Rafael "Ted" Cruz also spoke up that acting on the Obama nominations should be held off until the new 2015 session starts (with Republican majority) ....of course, that's not the way the system works, you jerk. All the congresspeople who were not re-elected are still official Senators and Representatives until their terms are up and need to do their jobs.

People who vote republican are helping to nominate conservative judges. People who vote democrat are electing people who support equality.

Not at all true, as evidenced by the many GOP judicial appointees who've written pro-gay opinions, starting with Vaughan Walker who wrote the CA gay marriage opinion. Obama's appointees, OTOH, are all solid permissive leftists, whom I, as a lawyer, have no use for at all. The GOP - and anyone else for that matter - is right to deny confirmation of any of them who refuse to follow the law and not the dictates of the charlatan in the WH who appointed them.

Of course they are. And they are banking on Obama being as slow as usual. Which is why, if Obama can ever get his act together (no evidence of that yet), he will immediately fill all judicial vacancies, so they can be approved before the Republicans take control of the senate. Anyone want to bet against me that he does that?

Well, they have already voted, and it looks like the country (not me) wanted conservative judges then.

Well that is IF HE CAN GET HIS ACT TOGETHER. Which means Obama needs to stop being spineless and wishy-washy and start performing acts of strong leadership. That remains to be seen.

Considering the way things are going, and that the Hill is probably the dem's next presidential nominee, we better hope that Ginsburg lives to 100.

Lets just hope that the hapless Hillary ho is NOT the 2016 democratic presidential candidate.
