Hi Guys.. newly moved to the Pensacola, FL area and wondering where to meet cool gay guys besides bars/emerald city. Pensacola is much more challenging than larger places like Atlanta/DC.

I'm hoping to meet some new friends by the spring as I'd like to have friends to chill with under-canopy during Pensacola Beach pride in May. Seems a lot of people there - got to be a smattering of friendly locals there too, right?

Hey guy. Welcome to the neighborhood. Don't really know Pensacola all that well but good luck finding a crowd. We always come over for the Memorial Day beach party.

If you've never come to M-day I'll give you some pointers on meeting guys.

If at all possible get there Thursday afternoon/evening so you can get to Round Up early and meet locals.

Get a hotel in town rather than at the beach so you can go out at night and not have to drive all the way back to the beach through Gulf Breeze's infamous police after drinking. Crown Plaza is right across the street from Emerald City and a block from Round Up and directly across the street from the civic center. Sole Inn is always a great place on Palafox St. So are Seville Inn on Garden and Days Inn on Palafox -- 1 block from my house.

Wear shirts or caps that are clues to where you're from or where you went to school. If you have to set up a canopy bring a state flag on a tall pole of any sort and get close to the water. (you can buy sectional tent posts and make them 12 ft high)

Travel light on the beach and bring sun screen. If you bring a canopy and all the gear you'll be tied down to one spot. There won't be one person on the beach unwilling to share space under their shade. You can get a few drinks snacks, towel and whatever in a small back pack. Also carry a little cash so you can offer to pay if someone feeds or liquors you up. Chances are no one will take your money but it's polite to offer.

Try to find some of us P-cola residents on the beach -- we're the ones with furniture and the biggest set ups. My crew and I will be there everyday with boiled shrimp, hotdogs and a keg of beer.... and we try not to carry anything back. Look for the parachute as a canopy.

I always leave early everyday so I can get to Round Up for happy hour. There are many locals who just don't go to the beach on M-Day anymore.

Send me a message here in RJ and I'll see to it that you get more info.
