I sustained a mallet finger injury (tendon torn from last finger joint) playing volleyball. The treatment entails wearing a straightening finger brace (currently quite bulky) for the next six weeks (or more). I'm looking for suggestions for upper body exercises that don't require a lot of hand/finger griping. Pushups are still doable, but other suggestions would be appreciated.

Trial and error is probably gonna be your best bet.

A riding buddy of mine broke his finger on a failed jump a few weeks ago (faceplanted), and is going through the same thing you're going through.

You could try benching on a machine and doing pec flys on a pec deckicon_idea.gif

Haha! I had one of those too! Yeah, what Paul said -- trial and error and common sense. It probably depends on which finger you have out of commission.
    It healed up fine.

Ask your orthopedist for a referral to a physical therapist. That may be in the cards for you anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions. Trial and error has been working. Chest press machine and cable flies - good. Dumbbell shoulder shrugs - bad.
