Something in My Throat

Earlier tonight, I began to notice there was something in the back of my throat. It's way in the back but to the side, like where the throat creases. It almost feels like a hair or something but I really don't think it's a hair. I've been trying all night to drag a Q-Tip forward in that area, hoping to dislodge whatever it might be but to no avail. I've also tried gargling violently with salt water but nothing. It's really starting to bug me and I've almost thrown up a couple of times. I'm certainly not going to the emergency room for this. Anyone have any creative ideas on how I might get this out?

Were you eating fish? It should be a fish bone getting stuck.

Have you tried swallowing a lump of bread or something?

No, it's not anything hard or sharp. Like I said, it feel almost like a hair but I don't think that's it either. If I had to describe what it might be, I get the impression it might be a very fine hair like a baby hair or something. And no, it's not a pube. I've tried eating solid food and swallowing on that side, hoping it would carry it down but no luck. This is really starting to make me nauseous.

Can you not see it with a handheld mirror? Magnified mirror perhaps. Seems like you need a tongue scraper or an orabrush that can get waaaaay back there to scrape it off.
I have 2 kinds that I use morning and night after I brush.
It keeps your breath really fresh.
A serving spoon or soup spoon, upside down is a similar idea.

I just tried sliced apple dipped in peanut butter. No change. The ice is too smooth to do anything. Keep going back to the Q-Tips but I think I'm starting to irritate my throat with those. Plus it make me gag. Ughhh. icon_cry.gif

Yes, I used the light on my iPhone which is really bright but I can't see a thing. I know you have something that would surely dislodge it but you're too far away!

I hate to go to the doctor for this. If it's not out in 24 hours I may have to though. I hate feeling like I'm gagging all the time. It's like looking at Kevex's face 24/7.

Did you recently take any oral medications or eat hard candy? I know sometimes taking a big pill could get stuck in the throat if swallow with air or not enough water to wash it down, I get a throat burn when that happens

No, nothing. I had a mixed drink at a bar and made out with some really hot stud, but I think it was bothering me before we started kissing. I bet it was something that floated into my drink now that you mention it.

Thank God for my WaterPik! It hurt like hell and it took several tries but after aiming it at the back of my throat it seems to have dislodged whatever it was. My throat feels like I just gargled with crushed glass but at least that thing is gone!
