Started a new gym with cubicle showers some with doors some without, I use the no doors more space and if the water goes cold u can get out. bit of a change from my last which had a massive room. But why do people go in with there boxers on and get dressed in the shower, no body cares your just having a shower, I know some people show off and walk down naked to the other end of the changing rooms but just get dressed by your bench.

    There's a plethora of reasons:
    - They're lacking in confidence
    - They are shy
    - They are selfconcious of their own body image
    - They are homophobic and don't want potential gays to ravage them *rolleyes*
    - They see getting naked in public view as public indecency
    - They're worried about potentially getting an errection

    etc.

Some people have a penis that goes hard at a funny angle, like Bill Clinton (allegedly). They might be self conscious.

I go to a gym that has a lot of military guys as members. They're very shy about nudity in the locker room. Kind of funny considering the military showers on base are gang showers for about 12 guys. Maybe they have so little privacy on base that they grab it when off base.

    that IS odd.

i can understand that.. or thinking you're really small. plus all the other stuff mentioned above.

some of the cover-up moves are much more awkward.. trying to squeeze your ass into skinny jeans while a towel is wrapped around you.

i used to always be afraid i would get hard. that's why i skipped swim day in high school gym, something i still regret.

I don't think it's our business to worry about someone covering up in the locker room. It doesn't affect us in anyway

+1 best to ignore, keep away from those people and get on with your better life.

usually the gym owners refuse to clean the new shower stall doors, walls and they are totally covered in soap scum. All this invites more delayed maintenance in the shower area too; leaky plumbing and 70% attached hardware.

In the gym where I go there are open area with showers and also cubicles [with doors]. At rush hour there are men waiting in line for the cubicles although there are unoccupied showers in the open area. What I really find weird is that in the line I often see those overmasculine guys with big muscles... any explanation?

Maybe the tales about steroids shrinking your dick are true.

    Shrinkage! icon_biggrin.gif

I use a college gym and about half of the kids actually shower wearing undershorts in a shower room with pole showers. Then they have soggy undershorts to deal with. I don't "get" it. Its not like guys their age have never seen a dick before, and most of them are straight (AFAIK) and could care less.

My gym has cubical showers with curtains. Tuesday a guy was showering with the curtain open; I'd never seen that before. After showering, he went nude to the basin area and used his hair dryer. He made several trips from his locker to the basin area while I was dressing. I wasn't paying much attention, but he had to walk within about four feet of my locker each trip, so it was impossible not to notice. Probably all that was to show off his body which admittedly was very nice.

Holly assumptions batman. How do you know that the people who are naked are showing off. How do you know no one cares about people being naked on their way back to the bench. You have already demonstrated that at least one person is paying attention

Spoilsport. It's just curious. No one is recommending a jihad against guys who cover up. Lighten up!

Growing up playing team sports (H2o-polo) in high school and college, we were all used to showering together in gang style showers - everyday. Athletes and regular guys used to being around other guys think nothing of being naked among our 'brothers'. We really don't consider it. Even today if I'm playing in a reunion or special game, or if I'm using the gym showers, I never see anybody doing any sort of towel dance - unless it is some newb who's never been around men, gyms, locker rooms, or never played team sports. Those guys need to man up. Nobody gives a shit about their junk. We all were issued the same standard equipment.

Let me explain this again. When a guy gains height, muscle, fat, is hairy or cut, his penis looks smaller.

FYI: a majority of porn stars are short since that makes even average size penises look bigger.

Everytime I see these threads I always feel like there's an elephant in the room. I have only seen gay men discuss the towel dance as far as caring about it lol. If i'm wrong about that then i'd definitely like to see straight men making threads about it since that would be a nice insight.

I also think there is an attraction factor that no one really wants to admit. If a guy is attracted to the male body then it makes sense that they want to see the goods. Why hide behind the pretense of saying "i dont care at all but those guys need to man up and not cover up" That's ridiculous icon_lol.gif

    Modesty (noun)

: the quality of not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities

: the quality of behaving and especially dressing in ways that do not attract sexual attention

    -------------------------------------------

1 : freedom from conceit or vanity
2 : propriety in dress, speech, or conduct

    Source: Merriam Webster Dictionary:

Many parents still teach that total nudity is improper and even immoral.

Like it or not, society continually teaches males that showing of their dangling bits is forbidden. Yet, society teaches woman that its ok, but not ok at the same time.

The primary teacher is movies and TV - we note in movies few male actors show full frontal nudity, whilst woman have for ages.

The reality is, some guys are into privacy for a whole host of reasons, for others, it isn't an issue at all (again their own comfort level or maybe even agenda).
I think a gym needs to allow for up to date privacy concerns and maintain the best facilities possible to accommodate all comforts (unless nutty)...lol
