Who are they? IMO these are the ten who held the top position for the longest period of each decade.

    30s: Jean Harlow
    40s: Lana Turner
    50s: Marilyn Monroe
    60s: Brigitte Bardot
    70s: Farrah Fawcett
    80s: Princess Diana and Madonna
    90s: Pamela Anderson
    00s: Britney Spears
    010s: so far Lady Gaga

I'd add on Christie Brinkley for the 80s.

Maybe some were blonde as toddlers. But at the time of their fame, nary a natural blonde among them:

I could agree with Harlow and Monroe, but the others are iffy. Betty Grable was more the image of the '40s, with her Million Dollar Legs, and having the most popular GI pinup photo of WWII (possibly of all time). I guess Fawcett in the '70s, too, her hair being her big claim to fame. Because if we're talking an icon for blondes, and not popularity in terms of box office and other criteria, that does shift the focus.

True. In Harlow's case she was called the Platinum Bombshell (and made a movie called The Platinum Blonde). Her hair color was not natural, but instead her unique shade was exploited as her trademark.

For the 70-s and 90's - Robert Redford.
