I've thought about it, but I don't know...

I'd probably have to be even more desperate for money.

I kinda wonder about this porn industry. I mean how come porn industry is legal but prostitution is not? What's the drawing line? You're allowed to perform sexual act for money as long as it's recorded and available for public to see?

And in California, it is illegal to produce porn in most other states besides California. Prostitution is legal in Nevada as well but nowhere else.

    Good point.

Our laws are full of contradictions.

I think the difference is that Porn is protected under the first amendment. (Freedom of the press/media). Porn is considered to be entertainment/media. Whereas prostitution gay or straight is straight up Prostituting, you can't really solicit sex from random people for money or make a career out of it Lol. But it's legal in Nevada/Vegas hence the name sin City. I don't have any judgment for people who do porn. I met a couple of porn stars in West Hollywood actually, nice guys too. I do not have the body to do it LOL so no. But I do like watching a nice hot twink/frat gang-bang scene though. icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_eek.gif

Would love to do it, but would be a little apprehensive about the consequences of having that footage out there and having that reputation. It could be career suicide...unless I decided to make that my full time job. Hmmmm...

I've never understood the moral opprobrium around prostitution
When a corporation pays you for the output of one of your organs (brain) everyone high-fives you
When a guy pays you for the output (or input) of your sexual organs, everyone attempts to shame you
    Fuck that
    No difference

False on both points prostitution is legal in Las Vegas only. Porn is legal to produce all over the country. A lot of black gay porn is produced in Miami and Atlanta. Porn is considered performance art which is why it is legal.

I consider porn to be a job like any other, I would definitely do it under the right circumstances.
However, I would not do it as it is right now:

    1) Porn work doesn't pay very good, and like any sex worker porn stars have an expiration date that's far earlier than in 'conventional' jobs - meaning you have to do something else either on the side or after porn, which takes me to...

    2) Proscription and lack of recognition, despite the general oversexing of our society. As long as this doesn't change, and porn isn't something that can feed you for life, there is no way I would do it.

I've been strongly encouraged to do it several times, but
know I'd regret it as it could create personal and professional issues. I think I'd also have to convince myself it was a reasonable thing to do for money.... and I don't think I would ever be able to make a compelling case.. LOL

FIRST, like Louis C.K., you should consider what you're willing to do.

Yes, absolutely. I think it would be fun. But I'm a bit of an exhibitionist even if I have no reason to be.

If only I thought it would sell, but now past my prime, I'm no longer ready for my close-up, Mr DeMille.

If I did do it I think I would find the niche stuff more interesting, because porn is a bit repetitive after a while. Having said that, I am not going to do it, and I doubt anyone would pay me to do it anyway (not fishing for compliments icon_lol.gif )

I think that there is probably some angle whereby I could get paid more for not doing porn. Sort of a protection racket kind of deal. But first I'd have to go to the effort of making it a serious threat. Too much bother.

I wouldn't do it because it feels like it is such a career killer if you are wanting to do something not in the adult entertainment field. But if I did, like Ohno said, it'd probably be niche type stuff but even then, it's just too risky for someone who doesn't want to be in the adult entertainment industry for their career path.

With that said, I don't look down upon those who do it. They are people too and even if it's not the most conventional job, they are doing a service that lots of people pay for (porn videos/DVDs) so I don't see why they shouldn't get paid for it. I would just hope it was what they wanted to do is all so they don't have regrets about it if that makes sense.

    Good point.

Indeed. In the UK (and in many other jurisdictions) prostitution (the exchange of sexual services for money) is legal. It is all the stuff surrounding prostitution that tends to be illegal: soliciting in a public place, kerb crawling, owning or managing a brothel, pimping and pandering.

As for porn, most of it was illegal in the UK until fairly recently. The definition of what is 'obscene' under the Obscene Publications Act has been steadily relaxed, particularly over the last 25 years. Of course, the internet revolution has pretty much rendered any sort of porn censorship irrelevant, save for the depiction of patently illegal sexual acts.

Right. Unless you plan to work the rest of your life for McDonalds or Burger King or some other minimum wage job I'd think that doing porn could be a problem for your career. It's too easy for a potential employer to do a google search on you and find out all the nasty bits.

Another aspect is future boyfriends. Objectively I'm not against sex workers. But realistically I don't doubt I'd feel uncomfortable with a boyfriend that everyone has seen getting his ass plowed in many videos.
