I don't see many guys wearing speedos at my beach but i know it's more common with gay men than straight men. I'm wondering how many guys prefer a speedo? I bought my first one this summer. It's tight but not too tight. It's sexy and so far I think I may wear it more frequently.

I usually do, but then I usually have a wetsuit on over it. Our beaches are a little... brisk icon_redface.gif
It's just easier sliding in and out of the wetsuit with a speedo.

However, some of the hyper-shy kids around here can be seen wearing board shorts over their wetsuits icon_rolleyes.gif That just looks freakin stoopid.
(OK, In a few cases, it's because their kite-harnesses are sewn into the shorts - but usually not.)

I don't but sometimes I wear a short, thin fabric suit that looks like runner's shorts (made by Uzzi). My partner will wear a speedo occasionally (ex-swimmer). I'm surrounded by an Air Force base and the guys are in shape. I see a lot of guys wearing minimal suits. Oddly, guys don't have a problem with it but women do.

I used to wear a speedo because it was light and dried quickly - important when I swam indoor laps and then had to board a train for an hour ride to the city with my gear since I never knew how late I'd be working.

It helped to have the body and equipment for it.

Took a few flexing "after" shots in them too but none of those pics are on my profile. If they were, maybe I'd garner a view or two.

But these days I don't see many guys, even old ones at the Y, swimming laps in "traditional" speedos anymore. And now I swim in baggy trunks to increase drag - got no one to impress these days anyway.

I wouldn't expose myself to the sun like that, but otherwise I'd wear one...

I swam at the FSU pool for a couple of years. I'd see guys in speedos swimming laps all the time. It always looked like they were the guys who did or had swum competitively. Young and old. Kind of a badge of membership.

Most American guys wear swim trunks, shorts at the beach. Not a lot of Speedos. I noticed that in the Olympics game, they changed from Speedo to like long-trunks. My guess would be wearing Speedo would expose too much? Esp. when most Straight guys aren't that fit. Most gay men however look slim/skinny and can pull off that tall/lean Speedo look.

I just wear running shorts at "textile" beaches and nothing at clothing optional beaches.

Oh, I always wear a speedo when swimming laps. Though I don't have ready access to a pool these days. In college, (and when I worked in town) I was one of those guys who always had damp speedos hanging on the outside of my backpack, to dry. I guess that was the "badge."

It depends. To be honest, I would prefer to be buck naked at the beach. But given how prudish most Americans are, I wear trunks (unless it's a gay beach, and then I wear a speedo).

I swim laps 2-3 times a week, and for that I always wear a speedo.

EXACTLY! Even older, less sleek swimmers like me get chatted up by the guards and fellow swimmers along the lines of, "Where did you swim? What was your stroke?," etc. The camaraderie makes for good feelings - and better workouts!

I wear a brief swimming suit, but not quite so brief as a speedo. The one time I tried on a speedo I found it physically uncomfortable.

Perhaps at my advanced age I shouldn't wear a brief suit, but I see no point in a lot of extra fabric.

They changed because they think the upper male thigh is a sex organ and it has to be covered. Reason most shorts and swimwear for guys goes to the knees. Society labeled guys thighs as "private". which is stupid.

Ive been wearing speedos since my early adulthood and I still do today. If others don't like it they don't have to look..

Whats more disturbing, is the "outline" is still there same as the speedo since they are both tight fitting suits except the longer ones cover more leg.. So whats the point in the longer material then? there trying to cover the thighs... LOOK people.. The male thigh is not a private part.. Its part of the leg.. You don't shit out of it, you don't piss and blow sperm from it either. So there is no reason to cover it up..

I always wear a speedo but mostly because I don't like board short tan lines.

Here on the west coast, I think there are more speedos out there. I even know some hot straight guys that wear them. I'd like to see more speedos, I think they are HOT!

But in my opinion, NOBODY wants to see me wear one anymore! It's board shorts for me.

I sometimes go to the beach wearing trunks, but usually I do laps in and sometimes wear square cut trunks like those below for example, they are conservative enough to not get stares and short enough for me to enjoy icon_smile.gif
