In all fairness, THE WHITE POLICE OFFICER SAID HE WAS "AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE"

Just like the police officer who shot the 12yr old boy was "AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE"

AND the reason that Darren Wilson had to use 12 BULLETS on Mike Brown was because he was "AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE".

Cops know to always use those magic words!

The issue of OUT OF CONTROL COPS is finally uniting Conservatives and Liberals.

My local Republican friends have been as disgusted by the grand jury injustices in Ferguson and especially in Staten Island.

Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, when you've lived in the South for long enough, you know that RACISM IS REAL.

And most of us here, no matter which party we support, are sick of racism in every form we find it.

Strange, 430+ views and not a single comment? Are we becoming frustrated beyond words or complacent?

I think police departments are becoming way too militarized and behaving like it. I think they have too much money and there's far too many of them.

Another law that needs to be heavily revised or repealed entirely is civil asset forfeiture laws as this give them a financial incentive to behave in some really heinous ways.

Even around here with our super low crime rate and great schools, we have four jurisdictions patrolling the same turf. We have city, county, township and state trolling for some little tiny piss ass speeding ticket looking for something bigger.

Many times we have two or three competing jurisdictions sitting the same place looking for any excuse to harass someone. No damn wonder our property taxes are so high.

Our first officer involved shooting/killing in our city's history was over a traffic stop because of a burned out stop lamp. Taillight worked, it was just the stoplight filament that had burned out. All this went down right in front of my gym. Cop thought he saw something and shot and killed the motorist.

When I first came back here I was stopped a massive number of times all because I drove on a California license. Well yeah, true, I have cars plated here and cars plated in California. I own property in California. I own no property in Ohio, and was here to take care of failing parents. I was a registered California voter (REPUBLICAN) and did jury duty there. Sounds to me like I was a California resident. But yep, the line always started the same. They knew my name before they walked up to my car and proceeded to inform me that my license had expired in 1980 ... the year I moved to California .... the year I got a California license.

I proceeded to explain to them that I was a California resident and they countered with .... I was in a car with Ohio plates. I told them that I also had two cars with California plates, house, garage, jury duty, voter registration in California. They said I should be driving on an Ohio license (I do now, btw) . Then I asked them what do I do when I'm driving in California as you're not allowed to have multiple valid licenses. What do the snow birds do who live six months of the year in Arizona or Florida? They had no answer.

I can always tell when they are following me with the intent to stop me. I don't let that happen anymore. They make more than a couple of turns following me, I pull to the curb and stop, if they don't leave within a minute or so, I shut the car off and get out and stand beside my car until they do leave. What if I was black instead of a very white elderly male. Would it make a difference what happens next?

I agree with you 100% about American police departments becoming too militarized and the increasingly hostile attitudes of cops towards citizens. It is time to demilitarize the police. There are too many separate little police agencies as well. This unnecessary duplication is making law enforcement costly and inefficient. Colleges and universities along with public transit authorities do not need their own separate full fledged police force. They should be in the jurisdiction of local, county, and state law enforcement. Most of these separate little forces are nothing more than a bunch of fascists looking to start shit with anyone.

I didn't think of this until you wrote the above, but there's an area not far from what I was talking about above in a small 3,500 student college where you could be under the jurisdiction of FIVE policing agencies, which is nuts. The cops will soon start slugging it out to see who gets to write the speeding ticket for 2 mph over the limit.
