Although it may surprise many who have read my posts to RJ, it surprised me that the New York Grand Jury did not indict the officer who had placed Eric Garner in a choke hold. Keep in mind I have not reviewed evidence in that case as in the Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri.

Over the last day -- news stories not always being timely if U.S. related in my part of the world -- there has been a police involved shooting in Phoenix where one would think the victim was reaching for identification. Possibly at least.

Policing may have changed I think. It does warrant a close review.

Thoughts? Caution I think is in order. There are many police related shootings each year -- hundreds in fact -- so are these poor examples being used improperly by media or the norm?

It is time to demilitarize all police departments across the US. This whole paramilitary thing is getting out of hand and it does not work.

Now Phoenix has a police shooting, any investigations into this incidenticon_question.gif
