FightAIDS@home; Use your computer to further HIV research

    Being one of the few scientists on here; felt it would be great to share the info about this!

    FightAIDS@home is a free computer program you can download onto your computer. A simplification is that it pretty much uses your computer when you don't need it (i.e. asleep) to solve mathematical formulas about modeling systems in the disease (i.e. figuring out how proteins fold, drug/molecule interactions).

    The idea is to turn 1000x small computers into a semi-super computer. Crowd-sourcing research.

    Its not just HIV/AIDS but lots of different research focuses (Climate Prediction, Malaria, Searching for extraterrestrials)

    The great thing is that you get to control how much your computer works; so you can decide if just 10% or 100% of the time.

    These applications are fantastic! I currently let my computer process data for SETI@Home while I'm at work.

    I might look into adding this program as well.

    Yeah, I've got some malaria and the original folding@home. ;)
