Here's where you can talk about what you have planned, or what you did over the weekend!

I went to NYC for the weekend to visit some friends who live on Staten Island. It was definitely a "take my mind off of things and focus" plan for fun.

Got there Friday evening and had dinner at a fun Thai place called Republic.

Saturday, my friend Judith decided to take me to get a massage as sort of an early birthday present and also part of the theraputic getaway. What she neglected to tell me was that it was going to be a Shiatsu massage - basically, a very nice Japanese man tried to KILL me with his elbows for an hour. I'm still in pain, LOL!!!

Saturday night, we went to a great bar called Phoenix - cool music and COOL guys! My type of place icon_smile.gif

Sunday, had lunch at Chelsea Market (home of Food Network) before heading home. Awesome time!!! icon_lol.gif

I have seen some movies lately:

The Lives of Others -- excellent, story of the Stasi in East Germany (rent Goodbye Lenin, humorous and true to the fall of east germany)

La Vie En Rose -- excellent, herky-jerky time line but hang in there...it is worth it.

    Becoming Jane -- the pits

Moliere -- same ploy as "Shakespeare in Love" but with the french author

The Jane Austen Book Club -- excellent, complicated, just like one of her novels but in a modern setting.

Next weekend: Death at a Funeral -- I hear it is very funny.

Wow, it is like you went to the indie theatre in my town over the last 2 months all in this weekend. That is basically every movie they have shown there recently.

    Hey sickofthesame,
Sorry to hear you had a rough date...unless you meant that in a good way icon_wink.gif BTW - those glasses are very handsome on you icon_smile.gif

Next weekend, I'm doing this wellness retreat for gay men - one of my best friends is the co-coordinator, and asked me to tag along. It's pretty much a "don't beat yourself up for being gay" seminar. Though being gay isn't an issue for me, I figured I could see what it's all about and maybe apply what I learn towards my FKS issues icon_lol.gif

Hey Joe - perhaps you can bring whatever you learn back to RJ. As I mentioned on your other thread, plenty of guys here could use it!

My coming weekend will be one of my last with my husband before he starts another rotation from hell for a month. Hopefully we'll catch Bourne Supremacy, have some friends over for dinner, go for a bike ride, and test the strength of the bed frame icon_twisted.gif

I wondered that too, but didn't want to sound dim.

My weekend shall be spent working on the company website, and possibly sucking my thumb. I cut it about an hour ago, and the loser digit won't stop bleeding

I looked it up on AcronymFinder, and it was not obvious what FKS might be in this case.

Yea... thumbs can go rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. Why don't you just cut it the rest of the way off?

While I spent most of Saturday doing homework, I made up for it on Sunday by going up to the Sawtooth Mountains for a day hike. It was a gorgeous day, clear, but a little cold. I don't think it topped 50, which was fine since I had dressed for it and hiking gets you hot anyway. I took a ridiculous amount of pictures, some of which turned out beautifully.

This coming weekend I'm pretty sure I'll be doing homework again, and besides going to the market that will be about it. I will be really glad when these last 8 credits are finished this semester and I can be done with undergrad, so I can actually do something worthwhile on the weekends without worry about homework.

I didn't do much... I went to a conference for work and got a hotel room on Friday. I ate dinner at a steakhouse and the food was incredible! Of course since I was out of town I hooked up a couple of times. Hook up #1 - A HOT, HOT, HOT white guy, NICE body, muscles everywhere, and with an AMAZING ass. We went at it for like 3 hours... I still jack off thinking about him, he was HOT! Like, pornstar hot... Hook up #2 - Older white guy, AMAZING body, great kisser... only thing that annoyed me was he said he was 45 and was more like 55ish. But he still had a HOT body to be so mature.

Saturday I didn't do much, just slept all day and watched tv.

Sunday I went to go and see Transformers... GREAT MOVIE!!! One of the best movies I've seen this year if not the best.

I went to street fairs: Grand Ave, and Abbott Kinney. The Grand Ave was more about culture as they have free concerts at the Disney Concert Hall, and Dorothy Chandler etc, and then the Abbott Kinney was mostly about eating and drinking. Lots of good fun.

The only thing marring the day was that I got kicked outo f the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) for sitting on a piece of art work that was masquerading as a bench. Actually it was a bench, and there were two or three identical ones placed about the exhibit that I innocently thought were for sitting on and watching the exhibit, and sat on one of them. As soon as I did one of the securtiy guys came over and told me that I wasn't allowed to sit on the art work! I told him that I was very sorry, but hadn't realized it was part of the exhibit, and not a bench to sit on, and pointed out that nothing indicated it wasn't just a bench to sit on. He went off then about the objects d'art, my word not his, being spaced 18" apart from each other -- no shit huh? Well, I don't usually make a habit of taking my ruler to art museums. I again appologized at which point he demanded to see my driver's license. To whcih I said no, I'm sorry for sitting on the art work, but no I'm not handing you my driver's license -- well at least not to a fat, 50's museum security guy, well maybe if he was cute and half that age. At which point he told me that I would then have to leave. Which I told him was fine, and found my friends and we went back to the lobby, and off to the other half of the museum.

My friends thought it hilarious, and made snide comments about not being able to take me places with out f***ing up.

I spent Saturday finally fixing the rain gutters damaged from last year's snow. (Fortuitously, as it turns out.) As usual, I spent Sunday catching up on things in the lab. This weekend, it's time to launch into the whole firewood circus.

Thursday is my first day starting my rehabilitation workout with a personal trainer. He is going to monitor my workouts and my eating. I figure he knows what he is doing so my workout won't leave me too sore. But I am very afraid of the eating restrictions. I have gotten use to eating nasty, horrible "comfort foods" during my depression. I doubt they will be on the menu any longer.

Phoenix is great, joescorpio1970, isn't it? I love the jukebox and listening to non-dance, non-techno music. Glad you enjoyed the city.

I'm looking forward to the next 3 weekends when friends will be visiting. One bought front row seats to see Eartha Kitt at the Carlyle. I've also got tickets to 3 different Broadway shows - and 2 are free!

I was suppose to run a half marathon on Sat but (long story) it didn't happen which got me pretty upset.

On the other hand, I got tickets to see Annie Lennox who will be ending her short US tour right here Boston next month. I've been a fan of her's since (gasp) '83. Time really flies. It will be great to see her again.

On Sunday, I went apple picking which I haven't done in years with a men's social group here. Had a great time. They have a great apple crop this year. Brought a medium pumpkin and fresh cider too. Plan on cooking the apples (and pumpkin) throughout the month.

Saw a movie The Bubble which was very good. I definitely recommend it if it shows up in your city/town.

Fall in New England... you can't beat it.

Hey lissenup - yeah, Phoenix was great! It was nice to hear music I like being played at a gay bar. I love the city, so I try to visit a few times a year.

While I feel it is just boasting I've had some fun weekends lately so I'll share...

Last weekend I went to the theater with one of the guys on this site and got to know a new friend. Afterwards I went out to one of the gay clubs with people who had messaged. The next day was a home football game which included tailgating and was followed up with bars downtown, this time with straight friends. Sunday included sand volleyball and linedancing, it was a pretty great weekend. This weekend I'm starting with a Dashboard Confessional concert and catching the movie Across the Universe. On saturday one very attractive boy who met me here at RealJock is coming down to meet and I couldn't be more excited, hopefully we'll find more than friendship, we'll see icon_smile.gif Sunday again has volleyball and also a meeting for the upcoming "Come Out With Pride" day in town, anyone else have something local occuring to coincide with National Coming Out what-have-you?
