Its obvious and upsetting that gay relationships arent as attainable as straight ones, prob because most men are whores,

But how did you meet your bf/significant other?

I met this really great guy on Tinder. This doesnt count as a significant other, but rather a possible one. We had been messaging eachother for 2 weeks then met for lunch a few days ago. We both discovered our shared love for the MMO World of Warcraft and nerded out, talking about that and all kinds of other things. We ended up talking for 2 hours. We left with plans for a movie date, possible plans of hiking, and even venturing out to low light pollution areas to lay out and look at stars. This sounded too good to be true. My swooning over him might have been too obvious, but I felt the same vibe from him. We havent really talked in the past few days, but we will see if he sticks with the movie date. Gotta be honest, Im a skeptic because Ive met some flakes.

    I've had a few .. so ....
    1. Drinking with friends turned into turning the straight guy
    2. Out drinking, I don't remember how we met or ended up together
    3. Worked in the same place and I asked him if he would like to go out for coffee he asked me if I was gay, I told him yes and we kissed before parting for the night.
    4. Was standing next to him in a bar and he started talking to me about what a dive the place was, I grabbed him and kissed and he asked me to his place.
    5. We worked in the same place and I didn't want to drive home, so ended up crashing at his place.
    6. We met at work and I asked him if he'd like to go out (straight confused guy, it never really went anywhere.)

So moral of the story ... get out and have a drink once in a while or ask someone to go out for a drink.

I met all 5 of my exes in bars.
Maybe that's why they're exes - and why there were 5 of them.

I'm generally just a friendly and extroverted guy, so I meet guys all the time. Places I've met boyfriends - long & short term over the years would include:
    * gym or pool (while swimming laps)
    * out dancing in clubs (in San Francisco mostly)
    * through other friends (introducing their friends to me)
    * at my Episcopal church chancel choir (lots of gay guys there)
    * college alumni association reunions & events (tailgate parties, water polo and football games)
    * out playing tennis or running in my neighborhood
    * at my apartment building pool / sun deck (back in my 20's)
    * through work situations (proceed with extreme caution)
    * social & civic clubs I belong to (Rotary Club; my golf club)
    * current boyfriend (fiancé) - right here at RJ in '08.

Just go with a good attitude. Be open and approachable. Look people in the eye and talk with them. Smile & be confident. Be fit & look good. And a big furry dog can be an ice breaker for you. When I'm out with my Chow, I actually get into a lot of conversations with people. Borrow a Chow when you go out.

I meet all my lovers on Grindr. What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I met my current significant other on Grindr and he's sane, responsible, romantic, and sweet.

Mostly online. My partner of 7+ years I met on Outpersonals, I think it was. Site is different now. But the point is if you treat these sites like a meat market, you'll attract guys who treat it like a meat market. Same with bars. If you act decent and spend time getting to know someone online or off, you'll find guys who act decent and are genuine. From what I read, mostly, I bet 3/4 of the guys here that aren't already partnered or seriously dating someone are pretty good guys looking for the same thing you are, a relationship. Try getting to know someone who interests you and see where it goes. Distance can be an issue but just set that aside for a bit and invest some time getting to know a couple of guys. See where it leads. When I met my partner online, I was in Florida and he was in Arizona. We've been living together now for over five years. Take a chance!

I met my lover in the oddest way. I decided to search for a lover and found a guy in the personal ads who seemed like a good match for me.
I called the contact number but because I was new to this, I gave only my first name and phone number.
When the guy listened to his calls, he thought I was a complete idiot because I said nothing about myself as he had in his ad. So he moved me to the bottom of the list.
He returned other calls but did not find a match. So he decided to call the "idiot" to see why I did not include more in my message.
He reached me on a Sunday afternoon and I explained that I didn't know that I was supposed to say something about myself. Anyway, we hit it off and talked for three hours. We took a break for dinner, then talked again for another four hours.
I guess he liked me because he invited me to dinner at his place on the following Tuesday.
We have been together for 18 years now and got legally married!icon_biggrin.gif

Met a number of lovers online, including my first BF, and my late partner and current partner. I met one LTR by mailing him a traditional letter, after I read a newspaper article about him. And began with another as a bar pickup I took home to have sex.

We used to go to the same used record store and would bump into each other frequently. He was always looking for movies, and me video games. And he is a sort of extrovert so He would always talk/agitate me as I was trying to read things. Several months of seeing each other there at roughly the same time each week, I think we were both expecting the other to show, a sort of dating, maybe? I dunno, he was cute, if annoying. And I was a little trollish guy. Eventually, we started hanging out and going over to each others' houses, but it was still a few months before we would ever date. We DID find out that we had friends who were mutual friends of mutual friends. icon_razz.gif Then, one day, he and I just danced around the subject and I haven't parted from him for eight years. icon_smile.gif

It was in an AOL chat room (I know ...right?) about 11yrs ago. It was supposed to be a hook up.but for a variety of reasons we could never make it happen. We kept in touch though and slowly became friends before we ever even met ...like 4-5 mos after we started chatting. When we did meet it was pretty major chemistry. I guess we both thought it was special so we didn't even have sex until like the 3rd date. We've been together ever since.

1st semi serious guy - gay bar
2nd serious guy - gay bar
3rd ex bf - online dating

I like to meet people in person more. You can tell if there's chemistry or not.

O you are way to cute ... that singledom isn't going to last long for you ... just remember ... the homely ones try harder and will hit on you plenty ... but to get a good one, you are going to have to make the first move ... the problem with the cute ones is they are usually to shy to make the first move ... don't fear rejection ... rejection is a good thing, because it keeps you from meeting the wrong guy ... and sometimes they come back looking for you icon_wink.gif
