ummm... so can RJ Republicans here, like southbeach1500, please remind us why it's in our best interests to support a political party, as they do, that's dedicated to persecuting gays?

It's not even grabbing for straws - it's vacuous posturing to play to the flat earth crowd who can't see through them. It also contradicts other GOP pundits who say the GOP won't play the gay card any more.

In the case of Cruz, I'm not so sure that his motivation is just political pandering. Let's not forgot that his father -- who Cruz describes as his hero -- is a virulently anti-gay pastor who believes that LGBT rights is actually a communist plot to destroy America. This kind of paranoia is not vacuous, it is deep seeded hatred.

Just proves the TEA Party really isn't against big government. They want to use the government to take away the legal marriages of the people.

It's all about the money. The government is broke and can't pay for growing number of entitlements. Marriage discriminates against single folks.

I'm no lawyer but I am pretty sure that law would violate the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution (Article IV, section 1).
And Obama will veto it anyway. So it's just posturing.

Be thankful for President Obama and every Democratic member of Congress. They are all that stands between us and complete rollback of all civil rights for gay Americans -- which is the Republicans often-stated goal.
