A Lazy, Do-Nothing Day For New Year's: Just What the Doctor Ordered

We've been going nonstop every day for a couple of weeks, and I told my husband I wanted to take the entire day off today. Do nothing, go nowhere, see nobody.

He started to say a few minutes ago "Do you wanna go out for dinner"?

"NO!!!" I snapped. "Enough with going out! We haven't been home for weeks!"

We did have dinner with friends last night, New Year's Eve, about 12 of us (and 7 dogs - gawd, some of these queens and their dogs!). Very nice, with a turkey that was perhaps the best I ever ate, it was tender as butter and just as sweet. I gotta learn what this guy's trick is.

But we only had 1 mixed drink each the whole time, and some great food, and came back home around 10 PM, driven by a friend who had taken us the short distance there. I never drive our own car on New Year's. Not because I would drink and become impaired, but because OTHER people will be out drinking & driving, and can smash into us just as effectively. I don't need that hassle & inconvenience, and possible injury.

Then we simply watched the celebrations on TV, including of course the Times Square ball drop, and the Key West Sushi drop, done just outside the door of the suite we always occupy on our stays there. Toasted with some champagne, our second drink of the night, and I stayed up a bit late.

Causing me to take an extremely rare midday nap today. But then It is a holiday, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about exploiting it.

We still haven't even touched the bottle again since midnight. But should, champagne does not keep well after opening.

I hope you guys have all had a nice New Year's, too, spending it as you like, as well. icon_biggrin.gif

Didn't do anything, really. Warmed a can of beans over a candle stump. Watched the ball drop. Went to bed.

It's the traditional day to peruse the seed catalogs and plan too much gardening for the year! icon_razz.gif

I also resolved that my boat will leave the dock at least twice a week this year. But... it's freakin 12 degrees outside icon_surprised.gif

OK, here's what I just did the day after vegging-out on New Year's:

I put my kilt on, bare-ass commando, and wore it to a gay bar. Where a friend informed me it was his birthday. So I said we'll treat you to dinner right now at your favorite restaurant, our birthday present. Jump in our car.

My husband & I drove him over there, me still dressed in my kilt. You can imagine the shocked looks I got in the restaurant from men & women both. icon_eek.gif

Being harmlessly silly & unconventional is the only way I know I'm still alive anymore. Otherwise they should just box me up and plant me.

Stayed home on New Years Eve because it was cold and windy. However, I went shopping on New Years Day. The malls and stores were pretty busy.
