Is it a good place for meeting people or is it mainly just a hookup place?

I downloaded it but people seem kinda flake.

Anybody ever meet someone off of there?

Well, to sum it up, the people that say hi to u are the people u don't want to fuck, the people u want to fuck never reply to you. That's all. Forever alone. The creeps who send nude pics are the one who made my eyes bleed.icon_lol.gif

Pretty much this. It's definitely comes off as a hookup app. Where you'll have a very VERY slim chance at meeting a genuine person, a guy you find attractive (who wants to talk to you), or someone looking for more than fooling around. Trading face pics is a deal breaker too, since the profiles only show one pic (of a landscape and not of them, flexing to show off their bod while cutting their face from view, nothing at all or a person who isn't even them). It's entertaining at first, but the more you use it the more annoying it becomes.

These are not opinions about the performance of an app; they are opinions about the men who use the app.

Mostly a waste of time. But occasionally I've met new friends and dates through it, especially when I'm visiting places that have a larger gay population than where I live.

Oh come on, there's at least one bathhouse in Duluth, lol.

My experience has been rather decentish. At first you deal with the superficial ones then the creeps, the NSA guys and the faceless profiles who send you a picture of their cock before saying hello.

Although, nowadays I use the app to say hello to guys I've seen in a club. Most of the time, they've been pretty cool and it's funny because on the apps, people you want don't really approach you but I've always felt it's much easier to go to bars/clubs to meet guys. It's the same typings as the app but people seem more relaxed and easy going.

It's a memory hog, but I think that's because I've set up a filter to only show me guys with big dicks.

The reality of leagues is a harsh one and takes some maturity to be dealt with. This reality exists with or without grindr, but the fact that so many young people get their feet wet in the app makes it very unsurprising that they associate this harshness with the app.

I totally agree. I think it's made worse when people tend to leave their compassion at the door with apps like these and say things that most wouldn't say in real life.

I do think apps like Grindr is very helpful and damaging all at once.

Joe - I've never been to the Duluth "Family Sauna" or to any gay bathhouse for that matter (though Island House in Key West, where I vacationed last month, does have certain bathhouse characteristics). Believe me the pickings on Grindr -- or in real life --- in Duluth are pretty slim.

    This.

I tried the app for a month, and found it useful in figuring out who was gay as I have no gaydar. Said hello to a few people but never got any responses and finally gave up on it. icon_lol.gif

I like it, but it gets repetitive. I live in an area where there are the same guys.

I've been off it since March, recently downloading it for vacation. It works well in countries outside the US, as guys use it for various reasons and tend to respond more.

I thought it would be better in the area where I live now (creative types and professionals around my age), but it's just barebacking sex pigs, narcissists promoting their instagram and facebook feeds, and flakes who contact you late at night and then stop responding because they 'fell asleep.'

Try Scruff. It's slightly better, if only for the UI.

Some of the free vs pro features are annoying but it works alright for what it is.

If you're looking for a long term relationship, friendship, or someone who is going to even return a text message the next day then I suggest going elsewhere (meetup is a much more viable option). But if you're looking to fuck it works pretty well in the end. Be ready for a bunch of dick pics and bad grammar though icon_biggrin.gif

Seems like a good app for lots of chat and bs but if you really wanna fuck, there are better apps.

I lucked up and met a good guy off of there, but like most people have already said - don't hold your breath. Most people want to have some sort of sex rather than date you.

This pretty much sums up 99% of all gay sites and apps. I actually don't have access to Grindr because I have a Windows Phone (best interface by far but worst accessibility to apps and features). Scruff would pretty much fall into the same category as Grindr.

I would have better luck if I was rich and could fly to meet every person who messaged me from across the world.

I actually like Scruff. But the quality of guys has gone down, as it got more popular.
