I am not a big FB user - only started about a month ago. For a while, I have sometimes had Chinese characters appearing on the FB screen (background print) in the various boxes, after loggin in with Firefox (latest version). Today, I tried to log in using IE (to avoid the problems). Going to the standard FB URL (w.facebook.com), I got a login page entirely in Chinese.

I have always had a firewall running, and McAfee anti-virus program, and I never go to any "dangerous" ULs (E.g., nNver visit porn sites.)

Change the language toward the bottom of the page. Presto.

Perhaps someone in China broke into his facebook account. HikerSkier, you might want to change your facebook password. And if you used that same password elsewhere, change it there as well.

When it comes to secure internet websites, you get what you pay for.

I don't see anything on your screenshot nor read anything in your explanation which worries me too much. You could:

    1. Make sure your browsers aren't remembering passwords. Some of them used to store this information in easily-accessible ways, so it'd be trivial for malware to harvest your personal info.

    2. Set up alerts within Facebook to notify you via e-mail every time your account is accessed. May sound paranoid, but it might be useful for peace of mind to track for a while. Notifications include the source IP address and which browser.

    3. Clear your temporary internet files, cookies, cached downloads, etc. to get rid of any stuff which may be tracking what your'e doing.

    4. Change your Facebook password.

As a personal aside, I ditched Facebook about three weeks ago due to privacy/security concerns. I wouldn't be surprised if at least a portion of Facebook's digital footprint gets compromised considering how often it's happening to commerce and other sites.

I just deactivated my Facebook account. Never really like it due to privacy concerns but people insist on sharing everything about themselves to everyone along with who they know.
