Does anyone have experience with the gay tour company Out Adventures?

    http://www.out-adventures.com/

They seem to offer a lot of the classic adventure trips - hiking the Inca trail, climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking in the Himalayas, etc - for all-LGBT groups. Prices appear to be about the same as other tour operators (i.e. much higher than if you just put the trip together yourself).

Just wondered what kind of experiences anyone may have had. Some times it's worth paying a premium to travel with a good group.

No haven't but did use Toto tours, it was
adequate but the age range was too old for
me. I suspect many are like this, so picking a more active
    vacation would help.

looking into HE tours, Maccho Picho hike
but not sure yet. All are more expensive than doing it
    on your own

Looking for an adventure travel bud myself.

I have two friends who have done tours with them -- Iceland in August 2013, and the Greek Island cruise this past summer. They both had very positive things to say about the tour company, and the vacations in general. Yes, they are expensive (the cost of the tour DOES NOT include the cost of the flight. You have to organize that yourself), but they felt it was worth it for the quality you receive.

Thanks, good info. typically it's hard for me to find a buddy with the time, money, and or desire to do that kind of stuff - so it's either go it alone, or join a tour group.

So far I've only gone with groups to places I wasn't able to go solo (trekking in Bhutan, rafting in Tasmania, etc) but I've been looking at alternatives lately.

I've climbed Kilimanjaro. It was definitely worth the cost.
But if you're going to go all that way you should go for a couple of weeks. Climb Kili (6 days), safari in Maasai Mara (3 days), Zanzibar (7 days, 2 or 3 in Stone Town the rest at the beach in Nungwe in the north of the island)

According to my friends who have gone on the tours, OUT-Adventures tours have a lot of single travellers, so if you went alone, you'd meet other single people to go around with.

There's also a kinda similar company called Outgoing Adventures: www.outgoingadventures.com.

I just signed on for a tour of Spain. Looks like a good itinerary with a number of glowing reviews. The primary reason I signed on was the fact that I'd get ready made traveling companions, whom I'd feel comfortable with. Those can be difficult to find sometimes.

I did a trip with Out Adventures in Feb '14 in Thailand. Small group of 6; good mix of folks from the US and Canada. The local guide - nice gay guy, 30-ish - was super and professional. The itinerary was a bit rushed as with most tour groups, but all transportation and hotels were decent. It was more of a cultural tour, so not as much physical activity as I would have liked.

Friends of mine used them for Machu Picchu and Croatia. Another friend is doing South Africa with them. So, I think it's a solid company.

For other LGBT adventure tours, check out HE Travel (formerly Hans Ebensten/Alyson Adventures). I did the Grand Canyon trip with HE a couple of years ago. It was a blast!

I'm single and have also been looking for a gay tour company for an active vacation. I'm more of an experiential travel, seeking immersion and adventure, so cruises are out. I'm interested in the 15-day Greek Isles hiking tour (http://www.outgoingadventures.com/OAGH-gay-tour-greece-hiking.php) offered by Outgoing Adventures that starts on September 6, but I can't find any reviews of the tour operator, and I'm concerned about what might happen if the tour was cancelled due to not meeting a minimum headcount (cancellation could occur up to 60 days from the tour departure date).

A customer rep suggested I might look into refundable fares, but they were like 3X non-refundable economy ($4500) when I priced them r/t from Phoenix. That's ridiculous. Considering booking the tour anyways and perhaps just travel solo if the tour falls through. I suppose there's worse things than being single and alone in Greece.
