What would be a better design than the rainbow flag?

I'm sorry to say this guys, I never liked the rainbow flag. It's too San Francisco for me. It makes us all look feminine. I wish it could've been a better design.

In your opinion, what design would be better to represent gays?

OK, I admit its silly: unicorn clearly are not butch enough either. But there is a fun aspect to both the flag and mythology which we give up too easily in our oh so serious need for respectability and acceptance. For some, the flag doesn't fit with our Real Jock culture of "uber masculinity"

Borrowing heavily from the Hippie culture, the colours supposedly reprise key aspects of "the life"

    hot pink: sexuality
    red: life
    orange: healing
    yellow: sunlight
    green: nature
    turquoise: magic/art
    indigo/blue: serenity/harmony
    violet: spirit

The pink triangle - used during the Nazi internment of Gays to stigmatize them during the holocaust (go read about it) - was turned on its head from a symbol of shame to pride.

Many men could feel more comfortable with more aggressive, male symbology (eg tribal patterns used in tattoos) and colours (blue instead of pink), but that's not true for lesbians, trannies and many others.

But what inner demons and insecurities really drive us to conform, to consider a colour "effeminate"?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, if it was something else people would say it was "too gay" or "too effeminate" even if it was a monster truck or cobra or something. Maybe add an image that helped inspire it:

Yeah I'm afraid I don't get what's "feminine" about it. It's a bunch of colored stripes. And it's not like they're pink or lavendar or fuschia or teal...

Among other things, it was intended to represent inclusiveness.

Wait - did someone say it was inspired by the Wizard of Oz? I always thought it came from this... ;-)

Bonus points to anyone who knows the movie!

I think we have enough flags. Rainbow, leather/bdsm/ bear.. Etc. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Also the rainbow flag has a lot of history behind it.
When the Star Spangled Banner was new some people thought it was garrsh.
Besides our rainbow flag is a specific color group. Its our rainbow, not just any rainbow.

No. Too problematic. White penis? Brown penis? Asian penis? Red penis? Black penis? Erect penis? Flaccid penis? Cut penis? Uncut penis? Pierced penis? Shaved penis? Hairy penis? Tattooed penis? And all the myriad combinations.

Obviously a rainbow of cut and uncut penises, just like my dream last night... I mean, er, tmi.icon_redface.gif

I assume because the OP thinks colors are for girls and "real" men wear only brown, grey, and black. Blue if they are feeling adventurous.

I don't like rainbow colours / print - I never have done since I was little.

BUT I still have respect for the flag.

It could be red and white polka dot ---- gay people who don't like polka dots or red and white wouldn't like it.
I feel when it comes to something like the pride flag, which has so much history and stands for so much - it doesn't matter whether you like the design or not, it's about what it stands for and nothing else.

Or a bouquet of penises where there will be all kind of penises like brown, white, black , asian, russian and all of the kind. You can add the flaccid penises as a side decoration whereas you can put the healthy ones on the top.

I was quite disappointed after noticing, that there isn´t a flag of our own.... like drag flag, I like it, it´s really powerful.
Here are some suggestions for a gay flag (rainbow flag itself is dull)

There shouldn't be any flag representing gay

I don't believe in showing pride by wearing or showing a flag that is rainbow or other symbols

Flags are for nationalities not sexual orientations

Nationalities are overrated, especially for gay men. The rainbow flag is a worldwide symbol that we're here. We used to be invisible, now we are the brightest colors of all.

I guess I'm dating myself big time but it was "Billy Jack". One of the first movies I ever saw in a theatre. I liked it a lot.
