    Guys still wear high heals-- they're called cowboy boots.

    actually high heels were a huge draw back for commercial aviation for some time until aluminum alloys were strong enough to make cabin floors that could withstand the approx 500-600 psi they can exert

    Interesting courtly connection.

    My friend the bespoke shoemaker doesn't speak of high-heels, he refers only to 'court shoes'; apparently that's what they're called in the craft.

    UK armed forces dress regs (for female personnel) also refer to them as 'court shoes'.
