The past 2 days I've watched online news sources to read opinion on Secretary of State John Kerry taking 70's hippy folk singer James Taylor to Paris to sing "You've Got A Friend" to Parisians in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the rally where the only conspicuous absence was of US leaders.
No Pres Obama. No VP Biden.
Attorney General Holder was in Paris the day of the massive rally and chose not to attend.
John Kerry showed up five days late with a friggin folk singer and said he wanted to give Paris a hug and a song.
It's understandable why fervent Obama supporters aren't showing up to comment on the news sites. They have every right to be embarrassed about this. I don't blame them.
Here's a few comments I found about this...
Honestly when I first heard of this I thought it was a joke. -ImmigrantsWife
Could’ve sworn Allah fell for an Onion article at first - spinach.chin
I also thought it had to be a joke or gag…. Then I remembered the JOKE is on US! Not sure which is a more laughable failure, HASHTAG diplomacy or having an ancient hippie sing an apology weeks later? - SDarchitect
Mes amis, be glad that Kerrie didn’t sing to you. The USA is the laughing stock of the world. Never has the land had a more stupid top, in more dire times. - Schadenfreude
The Onion staff has it’s work cut out for them. How do you spoof this kind of news??? - batter
I have never been more ashamed of US policy and leadership than I am now. This administration is embarrassing. In front of world history embarrassing. Words fail me. - brotherobert
BBC Mocks Admin’s James Taylor Outreach to France: ‘No Better Definition of Soft Power’ - Flora Duh
“I can’t think of a better definition of ‘soft power’ than James Taylor blasting out across the universe,” - BBC
Why no Cat Stevens? - Lucky Pierre
I read a portion of the headline and first thought it was a joke until I saw John Kerry’s name then everything went right out the window. Why do we need Taylor anyway? I thought Obama could simply stretch his hand and everything would automatically calm down? I think Weird Al Yankovich would be a better choice. Yankovich’s parodies are better than Taylor’s music. - Kingfisher
I like it. I can’t think of a better illustration of Obama’s foreign policy of impotence, incompetence, and superficiality. The message comes across loud and clear: You’re on your own, don’t count on us. - Socratease

Good thing I’m beyond being embarrassed by this regime. - rbj

Brad Thor @BradThor Last week, if I had Tweet’d “What’s next? Is Obama going to send James Taylor to serenade France?” can you imagine the lefty outrage. Flora Duh
