I was very sorry to hear about his death and was going to post something here on RJ. He had a great philosophy, adding to my own focus and approach with my weekly, recorded webradio fitness program each week.
If you get a chance, check out his videos.

    A real tragedy, very sad.

I met him several times back in LA--He was a really nice guy, and did not take his success for granted. RIP.

This is terrible news........what's going on with the stars of Jackie Warner's old "Workout" team, first Doug Blasdale, and now Greg Plitt. Although I've met Jackie several times, never had the pleasure of meeting Doug or Greg, both seemed like great guys. RIP icon_sad.gif

Sad news, no matter how it went down or who was at fault.

During his career he was a contributor to many health & fitness publications. In one he was discussing how he prepared for photo shoots and said, "I look my best when I feel my worst." A memorable line.

Amazing to look at http://gregplitt.com/galleries/ and see all of his covers. That dude could work!

Neither his Facebook page nor his website have been updated. His team must be in deep shock.

    Very sad.

Sad. Some people think they're invincible, like oblivious cyclists and joggers putting their trust in DRIVERS to always see them and yield to them, regardless of what they're doing, the right of way.

Greg was really a great guy, a truly motivated fitness advocate and a good friend. Him and i met a few times many, many years ago before he got so famous. We trained at a gym and got in some good wrestling work outs as well on several occasions. His personality and "warrior" spirit was strong even back then. It only
intensified over the years as he got older.

He will be solely missed by many, especially those who got to know him in his personal life.
    REST WELL WARRIOR...

I don't really understand how you get hit by a train.

And.. apparently he was known for workout videos on train tracks?

It's terrible that this happened, but If you spend enough time on the train tracks, at some point there will be a train..

According to witness statements, he was with two other people. They were taking pictures or video. They saw the train coming. Greg tried to leap out of the way, but he tripped and didn't clear the tracks. Even fit people can have a clumsy moment.

I think this is a reminder that everyone should stay the hell away from railroad tracks. Also, in the US.. railroad tracks are private property. If you're caught walking on them, you'll get fined or arrested.

As to whether this was a suicide or an accident…

Despite the presumed statistic that most suicides occur in the dead of night (say, 4am), in Long Island leapers specifically wait until rush hour.

As for an accident due to stupidity, I recall a story of I think four teenage girls in…East Northport?…who came to a flashing, clanging railroad signal and decided to rush, no, wait - maybe even weave around the barricades, too much in a hurry (as most self-important people are) to wait for the train to pass.

I guess the moral of the story is that it may have been a planned, assisted suicide if the photo shoot was scheduled for rush hour.

All I can say is that this man's phsyique and hard work was an inspiration.
It also goes to show that you never know what might happen tomorrow, so maudlin as it may seem, live life to the fullest.

Sorry to thread jack. But here's another example of staying away from RR tracks. This guy had his headphones on and didn't even hear the train coming. Luckily, the train was going slow and the conductor gave him a friendly reminder..

That sculpted body of his, such a shame icon_sad.gif R.I.P.

He & the crew he was with should have been paying attention to on coming trains. Why even do a video for his protein product near train tracks?
