Well they're certainly NOT helping one's health.

Look. If you sniff an entire bottle in one session, then you might be jeopardizing your health.

If you take a few sniffs to help relax during sex, I doubt you're at risk (given that men have been inhaling poppers for decades and there is utterly no peer reviewed data showing the claimed negative effects).

I'd say the real lead got run over because it's not as sexy. Poppers are not dangerous in healthy people. But if you're coked out of your mind, taking Viagra (because you need it, or for recreation so you can fuck for hours), then poppers (which does affect blood pressure for a couple of minutes) CAN cause a heart attack. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and that's what this headline reads to me. It's poppers+viagra or heart medicine that can be dangerous. But that's not a sexy enough headline. So there you have it.

They may suppress the immune system, making you more vulnerable to various infections, especially when used regularly. There are some scientists who see a connection with aids and poppers. Not necessarily my opinion, just passing it on.

It's only logic that inhaling something that affects your senses is NOT gonna improve your health. That's basic kindergarten stuff.

Why gays use poppers so much beats me. I never used one and not interested in doing so. Im more into natural things to get turned on and feel pleasure, like having sex.

You're a Puritan! What are your thoughts on Satan's mating (dancing) and Satan's cup (alcohol)? icon_cool.gif

For me, it represents something that "alters"... whether a drug or "enhancer", I'd rather pass. It just smacks of something foreign for me. I don't do the drug thing and would never. While there are some here that may snicker of referring to them as a "drug", that's where I prefer to categorize them.

Dumb asses who use them seem to get addicted. One guy I was with was sniffing it the entire time. He warned me that he would. It was gross

The article says it's poppers that cause KS, not HIV.....total bunk.

Poppers have had a bad wrap ever since they were, wrongly, associated with KS/HIV. There was, of course, a correlation between poppers use and "gay cancer," but absolutely no causation. Just like gay people were, wrongly, associated with HIV.

Classic correlation and causation confusion. I can't with this junk science anymore.

    A balanced opinion:

    http://www.liquidaromas.com/medical_advice.html

It doesn't say yeah or nay. But really common sense should be a good check. If you get a headache STOP. It's not addictive physically, perhaps psychologically. Heavy popper use is rare.
    Don't use with Viagra.

It just gives me a headache!

Welcome to the 21st century, it's taken you along time to get here Huff Post!

Poppers has been around since the 70's in the gay scene and possibly event before that!

I have used poppers/amyl/amy for playtime since the 80's, on a regular basis (at least every week), with no side effects or long term effects that I am aware of.
Those that get a headache are using badly made products.
I swear by Jungle Juice Platinum which I used to get from Canada but since the Canadian Fun Police stepped in, without good reason or cause, I am no longer able to procure my favourite substance!!

Sad really, that some unknown, nondescript medical intellectual has made a negative comment about poppers in some obscure location and the media and government agencies have jumped in to condemn it from all angles!
Seriously, what harm does it really do to the wider population? ZERO! ZIP! ZILCH!

And if you took it on top of Viagra or Cialis or whatever then you only have yourself to blame because the message has been very clear for a very long time .....

DO NOT INHALE ANY NITRATE WHILE USING ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION MEDICATION!!

Smell is overpowering and can be downright nauseating after frequent uses. I'm not adverse in other people using it, but only hope that people make conscious decisions in using it wisely (or not especially in presence of the blue pill).

∆ This. Anyone who thinks you can inhale video head cleaner and not do damage to your health is crazy. Why not just sniff glue while you're at it?

I agree. If you need to use drugs to have sex it's better to understand what the issue is and deal with it directly rather than cover it up.

These posts win. I'll continue to pass on poppers like I passed on huffing paint or dry erase markers.
