Billy Crystal doesn't understand flap over his comments that gay scenes on TV go too far

' ... When I feel it’s “You’re going to like my lifestyle,” no matter what it is, I’m going to have a problem'

Well, guess what, Billy, us gays have been subjected to "you're going to like my lifestyle" ad nauseum. Tough shit. Change the fucking channel.

Wonder how many RJ members realize he skyrocketed to fame playing one of TVs likely first openly gay regular cast member. (Didn't read link)

Yes, Billy Crystal DID Just Make A Homophobic Statement (And Here's Why It Matters)

"What supposedly began as an indictment of any kind of graphic sexual content on TV quickly revealed itself to be exactly what it is: homophobia."

"You're effectively saying that being gay isn't normative and that our "lifestyle" is something you don't want pushed on you. And that's homophobic. You feel threatened -- in whatever small, specific ways -- by gay lives, experiences or expressions of affection and that -- say it along with me -- is homophobic."

Rather ironic, as I seem to recall he launched his career playing a gay man in 'Soap' in the 1970s.

We really have to educate the straight world that there is no more a gay lifestyle as there is a straight lifestyle. icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif

As a gay man I'm tired of advertisers pushing feminine hygiene products in my face. That ol' vag has a myriad of disgusting maladies - monthly bleeding, dryness, yeast infections, itching, odors, etc. You name it; it's got it. Gross. Stop pushing your feminine maladies on me like "You're going to care about my vaginal problems" 'cause I have a problem with that!

I agree. Network television used to be G rated. Now, it's clearly NC-17 with shows like Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder.

Once network television (trying to compete w/ cable?) crossed the R-rating, people have a right to object.
