Hey man, everybody should stop what they're doing and watch this. We all gotta respect and support what our president is doing. Let's give him a chance to finish all the amazing programs and initiatives he's put forth. This dude is the best president we've ever had / and the coolest. Give it up for him tomorrow night! He's going to explain everything and answer all the frickin' repub's complaints. They just make up stuff about him and lie, lie, lie anyway. Ignore 'em and follow what Barack is trying to do!

Obama just made history by being the first president to say "bisexual" and "transgender" in a State of the Union speech.

We "condemn the persecution of women, or religious minorities, or people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender."

“2014 was the planet’s warmest year on record. Now, one year doesn’t make a trend, but this does: 14 of the 15 warmest years on record have all fallen in the first 15 years of this century.” —President Obama

"I have no more campaigns to run..." Republicans clapped.
"...I know, because I have won both of them."

I thought this was the Obama cheer thread...

That is all what Huffington post has to contribute. Picking at internet trash and trying to portray themselves as journalists.

David Korn this am on Msnbc said there were no "major" terror attacks during Obamas watch.

Funny how not 1, not 1 tweet got through or 1 facebook post about the boston bombing got through.

I doubt the electorate will be laughing , and are likely to mirror nov 2014.

Hey, genius, that's because the event at the Boston Marathon was never defined by the Fed as a terrorist attack. It was clearly a terrible act, but it was not a "terrorist attack".

By your definition, then every school shooting in the U.S. by young men on their fellow Americans are also terrorist attacks. If that's the case, then we need to begin reconsidering how we interpret the Second Amendment...right? icon_rolleyes.gif

This seems naive. The Boston bombers were driven to mass murder by their religious beliefs. That to me is terrorism.

During the Republican rebuttal, Joni Ernst kept referring to the need for the president to "cooperate" (not compromise) with congress on various issues. Just as they were willing to cooperate when they were in the minority? Doesn't seem likely.

Seems to me that the president's team did a masterful job of putting the onus on the GOP to cooperate with their "Middle Class Economy" proposals.

("Middle Class Economy" I love that. For once, the Democrats have finally come up with a catch-phrase that will make it hard to vote against.)

The Republicans will have to either cooperate with the President to pass middle class tax cuts, infrastructure spending, education spending, finance reform, etc., or make it obvious to all but the most blind devotees who their true constituents are.

Complete nonsense. Catch-phrases mean nothing. This is exactly the program the voters rejected in 2014. Obama and his loyal followers did not get the message.

If catch phrases mean nothing, why is the GOP so skilled at it? "Pro Life", "Death Tax", "Jobs Bill".

I think "Middle Class Economy" defines the strategy perfectly. Give up on the failed "Trickle Down" theory and strengthen the economy outward from the middle. I'd argue that this is the program most Americans wanted when they voted for Obama, twice. And while the Dems lost seats, they still have enough to filibuster, and the president's veto pen, so the GOP can claim a mandate but they don't have one.

In my view, both sides are going to have to cooperate with each other. For example, I think that it would be tough for the president to veto the Keystone Pipeline bill if it includes the Franken and Markey amendments I talk about in the other thread, but I'll be shocked if the GOP voted in favor of them. Passing them would give the thing huge public support, and the Democrats would have to vote in favor.

Failing to pass these amendments belies the GOP's agenda.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but this post suddenly made me realize what a buzzword "terrorism" has become. How do we define it nowadays? If we actually apply it objectively, the United States has engaged in terrorism on many occasions. It, in fact, a valid military or political tactic that has been utilized throughout history.

In your definition, does it only apply to violent acts with religious motive against western society? Or is it more broad?

The title "war on terror" makes me giggle. I'm still waiting on the battle against rudeness or petulance.
