What is it with these brainless, uncommunicative guys on apps?

Apparently I just "annoyed" some idiot on Grindr by asking too many questions. He hits me up and starts telling me how he's apartment hunting. So naturally I follow up with QUESTIONS.

He's like, "Whoa, too many questions. One at a time."

I'm like, "You seriously can't follow three questions?"

    He's like, "It's annoying."

I'm like, "I thought this was a conversation. Sorry I didn't give you one word monosyllabic responses."

Then the idiot blocked me. Well screw you too, android.

Generation of fucking apathy. Do people not know how to relate anymore?

Tinder, Grindr, Ok Cupid, it's all the same crap - pretentious bores trying to impress people with their middle class jobs, bland vanilla pics of dogs and babies and humdrum hobbies.

Is anyone real anymore? I'm so bored with these lifeless drones. It's not much better talking to people in person either.

I have a friend who texts 4 times in a row. He can say it in one. It's slightly annoying.

If it is a "conversation" then 1 question at a time! Just like in real life. Do you ask a person in real life 3 questions without input?

Otherwise it comes across as the grand inquisition.

Grand inquisition? We were actually talking about something though, his search for an apartment, so I just asked some quick questions for info. Is it that serious? JUST ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION(S)?

People are so petty for no reason.

    I'm just venting.

    His three questions were:

    Your mother's maiden name?

    Your first pet's name?

The street name where you grew up?

So you can understand why the guy hit block.

Obviously not a match ... don't take it to heart and move on to the next one and don't expect everyone to be a match. Everyone has different personalities and some of them clash.

You're looking for intellect and interesting conversations on hookup apps.

You fit right in with the rest of them.

Listen, in nearly all of my conversations, I am the dominant speaker, meaning I keep the conversation going.

People are dull and don't know how to have imaginative dialogues. They don't ponder anything and all they can talk about is themselves. Tell me I'm lying. You can't.

1st guy: said **You want a bj or come over? (Ignored him)
2nd guy: I said *hi, how's it going? (Ignored me)
3rd guy: he said: *Sup Stud, send me half naked selfies (I said hi back, he hasn't logged on, ignored me)
4th guy: He said *Hi, sexy older guy, lol (he was 24, then send me his graduation pictures with his bros, homies) (Ignored him)

------ ahhh the story of gay dating apps.

What I learned from these apps, Grindr, OKC, even ISG.... people like need a quick reply to get themselves off. And 99% of the time, guys will reply to you if you're *HOT or their type! Lol and No one talks about apt hunting on GRINDR lol. Hahaha, Anyway, I think these dating apps are just another sources for people to get off on their egos/high horse and have poor communications skill. God, I yearn the old days of just freaking using an OLD HOUSE PHONE, talked and meet up with the guy. <----Old Romantic soul.

    lol Awesome response.
Like I said, you're fitting right in with those brained dead homos you're talking about.

You're searching for impossibilities on hookup apps, open your eyes idiot.
Get your fatass up and go out and meet REAL people like normal people did.

Grindr is different to OkCupid and (probably) Tinder because 60% of people are there for the n00dz (which are mostly stolen from Tumblr/Instagram anyway), 30% are there for a hookup and only 10% are interested in a chat. Most other sites the chat is at least something people are prepared to tolerate in exchange for the goods.

Every time you get blocked or block someone, just think of it as narrowing the dating pool down to get closer to the right guy.

"I am the dominant speaker" WTF does that mean? You keep it going, or you railroad it into the direction you want? A passive question elicits more honesty.

If you ask 3 questions to one answer, be it on an app or in person, you aren't being "dominant" you are being controlling.....you aren't LISTENING.

Yes, they do talk about themselves, but isn't that where you learn about someone? They aren't being dull, they are releasing you from the conversation, clamming up, they don't like your control. They are done with YOU. It's boorish behavior. "You seriously can't follow three questions?" If you really said that....I'd say "get lost bud!"

Here's some good advice on conversation, but read the comments below too. If it's insincere it's worthless.

To the OP! if you really want to have an interesting conversation, the APPS or Online Dating websites are NOT it! those methods of communication were exclusively targeted for people lacking social skills!

You seem like a genuine, warm, friendly and communicative type of guy! combination of personable traits that are a rarity with gay men online these days. Have you tried the social media "Meetup.com" I highly recommend it!! you will fit right in, and from what I sense you will be a great organizer in gathering local interest groups to get together! I belong to a wonderful Gay Men's Hiking Club Meetup group here in the NYC Tri-state area among others, and I absolutely love it!! you can't go wrong with meeting face to face once or twice a month, with real genuine gay guys who share your interests! try it, you'll like it!! good luck sweet man.

It's true, not many guys display their communication skills online. Honest question though. Were you seriously trying to have a real, honest conversation with a guy on a hookup app? All they want is sex, man. Finding a guy that just happens to want to talk is very rare.

As for the other sites like POF, OkCupid, and the Tinder app, I've met some great guys. Even if we didn't date, some of them are genuine and friendly. Of course, there are your weirdos and nasty perverts, but sometimes it's best to ignore them. You lose nothing.

    Here's the problem.

The problem is that most people are retarded, LD, or "average." Gay and straight. They're basic bitches. Giving a person a "smart" phone and APP doesn't transform their basic bitch-ness.

It's always been this way, technology and easier means of communication are simply thrusting more of these basic bitches into your proverbial face.

Just shake the haters off. You really have to remember you're hip, they're basic, and life with serve them their just rewards when it's ready.

My advice for any guys who are rejected by online apps like this. (Not related to OP's post on Apt Hunting) lol

I used to be very butt-hurt over dudes ignoring me and not answering or blocking. Lol, Then I started to do sort of the same thing. It's like a vicious karma dating cycle. Then one day, I had an epiphany, dudes who are unresponsive to you SPEAK VOLUME about themselves and not you. At least you took a risk, put yourself out there. You may get shot down but you will get up again. THEY will get ignored or blocked back by other **hot guys or whoever they're chasing. Beside, do you really want to be with an emotional-detached/unresponsive/non-compromising prick in a relationship? lol, ok that sounds Harsh but you know what I'm saying !! icon_wink.gificon_redface.gif

These apps... I got bored with Grindr after about 2 months. It's the electronic equivalent of a bathhouse and sometimes that's all you want. If so, just go to a bathhouse.

With Scruff though I've met some really nice people who get the fact that you want to talk and get to know the PERSON.

There are some who say 'this is a hook up app. why are you wasting my time' to which I have replied 'this app is anything you want it to be. sorry we're not on the same page' and move on.

Who can afford to take the opinions of strangers personally?

When did we lose the ability to actually talk to one another?
