Sometimes I can't decide which disgusts me more.....Fundamentalist Christians or Atheists. Man pretending to know what happens after death is like an ant trying to explain how an automobile works. It's pathetic and laughable.

^ This pretty much sums it up. And a title that asserts 'the "real" science.....' as if to imply that any other science is false is just ludricrous.

Metta, this is by far the most annoying link you've posted to the site. That web page is complete rubbish.

In my life span today's "Science" has been tomorrow's Superstition x 50 . But egotism to declare what other person should think reigns eternal.

Science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of a soul. That doesn't make any similar claim true (or, conversely, false). It just makes it somewhat silly to continue to believe in it without any evidence.

Scientists are full of shit. Everybody says the Bible are just stories made up by men, but what do you think evolution ! It's an unproven theories. I think scientists have balls of steel to presume to know what happened billions of years ago based on observation. They have some evidence but nothing irrefutable And yet we're supposed to believe it or be considered archaic or stupid.
Mankind needs to come to the realization that he's all alone in the universe and he doesn't understand anything about his place here anymore than he did 2000 years ago -And if we aren't alone in the universe our entire race would be wiped clean off the planet because we can't even get along with each other.
People can be the dumbest creatures...

An ant can't learn to drive, but at least it can crawl onto an automobile and verify that it exists.

The Holy Spirit is powerful when it's rapidly inflated into an airbag (or into an airhead, in the case of some humans!).

And many people have experiences that verify the existence of things unseen by others too.

No, that doesn't verify anything. People hallucinate or have delusions and hear voices. It's their minds playing tricks on them, if not a disease like schizophrenia.

The proof is in the pudding. Religious teachings don't say anything about how to survive on earth and maintain the integrity of our ecosystem. Religions are like races. They are useless to us as a species. They just separate us into different tribes (ethnicities), and it's all based on myths.

At least atheists don't have a book that tells them gay people are an abomination. (Actually, religious people tend to think atheists are unforgivable and going to be punished by God when they die.) icon_sad.gif

Whatever you believe, what happens to chimpanzees when they die is the same thing that happens to us, their genetic cousins.

Well, there's plenty of evidence that humans are animals, and since most popular religions view our lesser brethren as soulless, I'd say that by default religion has inadvertently declared humans to be soulless.

There are a few esoteric religions that believe in animal spirits. They are just as bogus as other religions, but at least they are inclusive of the whole animal kingdom, rather than prejudiced against anyone below us on the food chain.

What does religion have to do with whether souls exist or not?

Religion hijacks the mind in order to steal the soul.

There is nothing after death. The soul is a construct made from fear of an end and from self-importance over the inanimate and nonliving.

Not just the inanimate and nonliving, but generally all other animal species (or any atheists/heathens/infidels) on the planet.
