I looked this up in the forums here before making a thread and the threads I found were pretty outdated with no real insight or facts

I am currently easing into a 16 hr fast with 8 hr feeding time. I had been on the opposite-16 hr feeding-small meals every 3 hrs with sleep being around 8 hrs = fasting time. I started on Monday with a 14 hr feeding window and a 10 hr fasting time. I might speed it up if it's going easy by Thursday to 12 hr feeding/12 hr fasting. I want to get to the 16 hr fast and 8 hr feeding time. I feel like this will help me in the stubborn stomach and lovehandle fat from my bulk up. Anyone have luck or trying this now/in the past?

I think this will help discipline me better with food. It will avoid snacking and it something I think I could get used to as well. I know people might think that you could end up binging in your feeding times after fasting but as long as my mentality is in a CUT mode I don't think I will do that. WE will see icon_lol.gif

I've been doing it off and on for 2-3 years. And i love it! and it personally gives me extra energy too. I never eat past 9 anyways fasting or not. So the 16-18 hour fast wasn't hard when i do it. I personally really enjoy doing this type of fast. And getting all the food i need that 8 hour window. I saw good results from it too. But as they classic line goes ''everybody's body is different'' so who knows.

Try it out for at least a month. And see if you notice any changes.

I tried IF for several months a few years ago and lost muscle. It's pretty simple: eating meals at regular intervals keeps your body in an anabolic state; fasting puts you in a catabolic state (i.e., your body breaks down tissue for energy). In my experience, eating regular meals with a good balance of carbs/protein and limited healthy fats is going to take you a lot further toward having a lean muscular body. Unless your goal is to be skinny, in which case IF is great.

I used to fast one day a week but since I switched to the Paleo diet it is totally unnecessary. Trying to gain weight is more of a concern now since weight gain on the Paleo diet is muscle not fat.

Well let's say it's more of a cutting tool rather than a bulking tool

The goal is to eat your calories for the day in 8 hrs, and fast 16 hrs, I don't think I'd do the 24 hr fast, even for a day. I think if done right, just like eating in intervals throughout the day, it can have great results. At the same time you could lose or even gain unwanted weight. I'd keep my diet the same-high protein med carbs minimal fats and sugar. I might just implement it for 5 days a week with weekends on normal feeding.

    We'll see icon_biggrin.gif I'll post updates

I've also still yet to discover the actual science behind fasting from a bodybuilding perspective. on the one hand one could argue that calories are calories, and it doesn't matter when, what or how these are taken (like in IIFYM). I'm just very interested in the effect of IF on a hormonal level...

I am on a 12/12 split now, eat at noon - midnight and fast midnight to noon icon_razz.gif Going well actually

I am finding that keeping busy when you are fasted while awake helps as well as drinking lots of water

I am glad I am easing into it rather than jumping into the 16/8 schedule

You said "feeding time." You have to be careful with phrases like that on a gay website. icon_wink.gif

I've got friends who do this and they never complain about being too full.
