Dating app Scruff bought a billboard outside the University of Phoenix Stadium, just in time for the big game. The 48-foot ad shows two guys in a locker room making eyes at each other, with the slogan "Play On Our Team." It's a plug for the service, obviously, but also a nice addition to the (still pretty bro-ed out) world of sports and sports advertising.

Good idea, but poorly realized. Surely they could've come up w/ some more attractive models, if not actual players. How about Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart? icon_cool.gif

Scruff goes for the bear demographic. I suppose someone has to.

superbowl doesn't typically attract a big gay male turnout. most gay guys already know about these sites anyway. just seems like a waste of advertising.

Where is your brain, because the ad is the gay app Scruff, not straight men's Sports Illustrated icon_rolleyes.gif

Its Johnny's type of men, (among others, 7 million) its his company, creation and money, he should be able to decide who's on this bill board which I am sure he had the final say. Old conservative men like you should stick to bingo at the rec center. icon_rolleyes.gif

True enough, and it's my right not to prefer his product. And, you're waaaay off in thinking only "straight men" read, let alone ogle, SI. With your attitude, you'll be lucky to reach my age, whatever your politics. What a Gotterdaemmerung that promises to be.

Both guys in that ad are super hot, in my book.
I also think it's funny that 90% of straight guys who see the ad will totally miss the meaning.

......and a lot of people are going to see it.

All the transportation companies are BOOKED.

That means people will look around and take notice.

I will say, people like gay men in Phoenix for some reason.

So don't worry, kick off your boots and have fun. It's

    SUPER BOWL!

I just went to the website.

It doesn't look like it's for guys with laptops.
There are no forums that I can tell.
    It's for smart phone time.
    That's not me.

Scruff said that subscriptions to Scruff have gone up 20% in Phoenix since the ad. So yeah it was worth it.

Personally, I think the ad is lame. Its two guys sitting 3 feet apart, mildly looking at each other like they are telling each other what they had for breakfast. I don't think the models fit any gay demographic very well. They are not super hot by bearish/otterish standards, they don't give off a vibe of easy sexuality.

    It's just too watered down.

and "Play On Our Team." sounds like recruitment to be gay, not to use the ap.

FYI the guy on the left is the founder of Scruff. That could explain why they chose the models they did.
