The Republicans have a big majority in Congress. This complaint may have merit, but it won't go anywhere.

Doesn't the fact that he wanted his office to emulate the home of British Royalty raise any red flags?

Actually it's more accurately the British aristocracy and upper class. But that is indeed how Republicans in power equate themselves.

But as I said above, he'll get a pass on this. Republican officeholders almost never discipline their own members, and certainly not for something like this that most of them do themselves.

LOL! If true, that's the most sensible statement in this thread. However, it has yet to be established that Congressman Schock is gay. But, it's well established that, much like HRC, CREW is a Democratic vest-pocket organization that puts on a big show of "non-partisanship" while disproportionately targeting GOPers. About what you'd expect from an outfit founded by a bunch of disgruntled Democratic donors, as detailed here:

    http://crewexposed.com/

As for adding David Brock - we all remember him, right? - as CREW's chairman last August, POLITICO reported on the new, openly — rather than merely tacitly — political CREW:

"CREW has operated as a nonprofit registered under a section of the Tax Code — 501(c)3 — that prohibits partisan activity; under Brock’s leadership it will add a new more politically oriented arm registered under section 501(c)4."

Reporters previously skeptical that CREW was an independent watchdog noted the group’s inclusion into the openly left-wing fold. Buzzfeed’s John Stanton Tweeted: “Ok so is everyone going to stop pretending CREW is a nonpartisan operation now that Brock is at the helm?” USA Today’s Paul Singer noted that CREW “tended to hit harder on Republican ethical violations than Democratic ones.”

All as confirmed by the line graphs accompanying the story linked to above.

What's shocking is that it looks more like a 3rd rate bordello than Downton Abbey.

Nicely done, but I don't care for the decor. It's simply not my aesthetic. My mother would love it.

So the organization that is the most corrupt is being unfairly targeted because more of their people have been outed as corrupt?

Boo effing hoo. Doesn't change the fact.

Didn't I read a thread recently that "unfairly targeted" (emphasis mine) corrupt Democrats? I didn't see any crocodile tears over that one.

Uh Oh! more problems for Congressman Schock, his legally registered district residence is empty and in forclosure:

    http://peoriapublicradio.org/post/congressman-schocks-residence-listed-foreclosure

apparently in order to satisfy the requirement to "live" in the district you represent he was "renting" the coachhouse on this property that does not have it's own Legal address. he used this address to file his federal election committee filing Tuesday, but a forclosure listing has been up for over a week.

    more pics here:

where does he really live? who is he really representing?

also yesterday his press sectretary had to resign due to racial facebook posts.

Looks more like my Great Aunt Mae's parlor. And yes, I really had an Aunt Mae, my grandmother's sister. And she willed me that house, as her nearest male relative, old-fashioned parlor & all. (Like my grandmother she was born in the 1800s)

Except I was already in the Army, had no interest in owning a house 1000 miles away, so I signed it over to my Mother when Mae died, to sell or do whatever. Since it had belonged to her mother's sister, a closer relative to Mae than I was.

A lovely & kind lady, a totally gentle soul, but I felt Aunt Mae's concept of male inheritance taking precedence over my Mother was as antiquated as her fussy parlor, or as Shock's gay Congressional office is. At least Mae didn't have hers furnished illegally.

I agree: the numbers alone make this one look shady. Much like the Chicago real estate dealings between Tony Rezko and Obama back in 2005. Either way, if wrongdoing is found, it should be strictly prosecuted. This is not a good way for young politicians to begin their careers, whatever their party.

Schock certainly rose and fell quickly.

I mean, I'm confident lots of politicians (red and blue) to shady dealings and skim off the top. But selling a home for 3 times it's tax assessed value (prima facie proof of its actual value) is so blatant that skimming turns to outright fraud.

Where's the subtlety? The refined and elegant touch of ill-gotten profit-making? Have junior politicians no decorum?

Oh wait, Schock's DECORum is what started this train wreck he's riding.

Schock is more ham-fisted than theses perps:

    So obvious in his scamming.

I'm so embarrassed by everything about this little closet case that I wish he really was straight.

Have no fear. The Republican Congress will circle the wagons around one of their own. Shock's in no danger.

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure. If Schock's as gay as everyone suggests he is, he'd better watch his booty once those horses are bedded down for the night.

I disagree. Republicans will protect him. Until and if he says he's gay, or is proven to be gay, the Party will resist all efforts to undermine him.

The Republican leadership will never throw away a reliable vote in Congress, no matter how sleazy he is. Just look at Senators Larry "Wide Stance" Craig, who was allowed to serve out his term, and still-serving David "Whorehouse" Vitter of Louisiana.

According to a commenter on Towleroad, Schock has a longtime boyfriend. (I have no idea if this is true.)
He's Eric Brinker, from a real estate family based in Schock's district. Eric is the son of Nancy Brinker, the dame who started the Susan G. Komen foundation, and he was a board member of that group until they jumped the shark last year over cutting off funding to Planned Parenthood and millions of women realized that the foundation was nothing more than a right-wing grift (aren't they all?).
