move from Dallas to California. Seems to work as most people there have sexpacks.

Either that or just keep working out and pay attention to your diet

I hear you that it just seems like it takes forever. I stopped working out and just got back to it 3 weeks ago, but I tried the medicine ball exercises on here and in three weeks I went from a keg to a 2 pack. So far the best results I've seen and I don't feel like I'm breaking my neck on the floor but if you find something that works better feel free to share it. icon_razz.gif

    Good luck.

hanging leg raises are good for helping develop lower ab muscles...usually the ones people have the most problem getting definition in. BUT it's also said that a sixpack is made in the kitchen! eating appropriately is just as important, if not more so, than working out like a fiend in search for great abs. I suppose I shouldn't talk, I still don't have the abs I want, but I've slacked off in the last month with holidays and traveling. Determination and dedication are the most important things in getting to the abs you want icon_biggrin.gif

True, I should have mentioned that as well because I think I spent the entire day reading on it. So many points of advice. I too slacked over the holidays! Nice to see others trying besides me. Good luck with it!

By the way, I completely hear you on the "working on it" build.

A pictureless, profileless, with a sign on name of budlight, in Dallas, looking for abs. ROFL. How so very Dallas!!!

You want abs? You get leaner. It's as simple as that.

Some folks don't have 6 packs. They have 4 packs. Genetics don't give them 6 packs. Some folks have eight packs. Hard telling without a picture.

You want abs? Honest? You have to put forth at least a minimal effort. A profile. A picture. A wee bit of a description. That's not so much to ask from any reasonable person.

I assure, that 5'5", and 190#, in the picture below, that I made the effort. You should, too. Plan for success.

ad weighted resistance to your ab workout. make sure you do a workout that hits the upper, lower, side and all of them at once within each ab workout. and don't just sit there and do 5,000 sit-ups.

Abs are earned in the kitchen not the gym. diet is the only way to get a six pack

A guy at my gym has obviously tried and tried to force his abs to pop with exercise only, no diet. He has an average build with a thin layer of fat. He might be able to pinch an inch of fat at his waist, maybe less than an inch. The other day I saw him in the sauna and was surprised by how overdeveloped his mid-section is. He has the waist of a serious body builder on a body that I would classify as "tennis-player."

send him to the mayo clinic. seems to me from the other thread that he's got a body dysmorphia issue going on

No matter what I ever tried, I could never get a six-pack. I was just thankful that I didn't have a keg ! And, if you notice, all guys' abs are different. Some get a well defined 6-pack, some an 8-pack, and some are in strictly horizontal rows, and others are staggered. Strange.

Silly body builders with their seasons. Have you no idea why it´s called a sexpack?

The key to getting your six pack depends on a whole bunch of things, not just what ab exercises you are doing.

You have 3 factors that all have to work together to get that washboard stomach.

Diet - I eat every 3 hours and nothing 3 hours before bed & a gallon of water a day. If you drink alcohol, avoid beer and stick with clear liquor and diet cola.

Cardio - I run on the treadmill, I take long strides, usually the next day, my lower abs are screaming.

Ab exercises - Any ab exercise is good as long as you are working them to failure.

A couple of things, this comes directly from Jackie Warner, who ownes the Skylab gym and in the show Workout on Bravo.

At least 3 liters of water a day. Which is close to a gallon.
at least 500mg of vitamin C a day.

I do not have a full six pack, it's because I get lazy. However, I have seen progress at burning my midsection fat by following the rules as much a possible.

Pictures, for beginners. Anything worth doing should be worth doing well.

"Abs" are a function of body fat percentage. Tiny guys with low fat can have abs, and big guys with low fat can have abs.

Get lean. Keep your calories up. Do high intensity cardio. Do not overly restrict your calories, unless you want to be tiny, and slow your metabolism to a crawl.

Dallas is the stroke capitol of the world for a reason: it's about excess, of nearly every kind.
