Secondary revenue stream and customer rip off? Much like bank ATM fees? icon_evil.gif

They all do it and they all increase their fees, NOT part of any bundle package, broadcast surcharge or taxes

Set top boxes, wired-wireless routers and remote controls

$9 for ATT Cisco wireless receiver, while the ATT Uverse wired DVR receiver is "free" (included in bundle)
$7 for ATT Internet equipment fee (router, WPS gateway)

I never rent equipment. In the past, my DSL and Fios modems/routers were free. Paying monthly fee for DVR is stupid. Really stupid. I use Windows Media Center as a DVR. No monthly fees. Free program guide. I can add as many tuners as I want. It just works.

I spent almost an hour with ATT tech support to ask about owning my own wireless receiver, to avoid their rental fee, while using the ATT WPS gateway, all I got from them was "your Best Buy wireless receiver is not compatible with Uverse", there must be a store bought wireless receiver than can be used with ATT wireless signal icon_confused.gif

comCast is the inter web bitch here.
They have a list of "provisioned" cable modems routers. None of the listed devices are ones that you would really want to own. All are poorly rated and very out dated. But that is how comCast is.

From newegg.com I would buy a cable modem / router box from your ISP's list to reduce the setup effort.

i hope google or verizon moves into the Denver area here soon?

southbeach1500 saidThis is why we need the Federal government to take over the internet (the ultimate in "net neutrality") so that everyone can have free internet (internet access IS a basic human right).

On your other topic you were claiming that if gov't rules and regulates it, everyone one was going to suffer with the soaring costs etc. Contradict yourself much?

So here's some great hillbilly reasoning
AKA SB: if gov't takes over, the internet will be free AND cost you mountains of money!
