This "Real Jock" seems like a fine young man!

The avid multi-sport athlete came out to family, friends and teammates while in high school, and was well embraced. But Dalton struggled at first to be out once again once the linebacker entered college at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Dalton Ray (as told to Outsports)For the first couple weeks of college, it was rough again. I felt as though I left a huge part of me behind. Thankfully it only lasted a couple weeks before I shared my "secret" with a couple of friends. Even just knowing them for a couple weeks, it was the same supportive reaction. That gave me the strength to make a Facebook post on National Coming Out Day about my sexuality.

This fear I had for so many years was finally gone. I was once the boy who told himself he was never going to come out; I (became) the kid who came out to everyone. I look back now, even as I type this, and am amazed at how far I've come. The support I've gotten from my family, friends, peers, teachers, teammates and (coaches) has been unbelievable. I've also met so many amazing people in the LGBT community, and I have made some even more amazing friends.

    It got better.

Ya, the daunting thing is you do have to come out over and over and over. But it does get easier until one day, you just don't care what anyone thinks anymore, at least about that.

a vid like this might actually make an impact if the player was out AND successful in football too. i'm sure a lot of gay football players saw and took note of how things did NOT get better for michael sam.

Right. Coming out is not a one-time event. I have never been put down for coming out, but have been seriously put down after being outed.

It's almost like life is easier in America if you are good looking AND white.

Yeah especially the ugly, steroid breeders who love to beat their wives and kids. Go figure.
