neither. i think gay men just put more effort into trying to look attractive. although a hot gay guy's straight brother is usually infinitely hotter. and it's not just the 'off limits' thing, i mean physically.

Actually Scruffy, this is kind of an odd example.

Considering Your "type" and Your Friendship with Brian Warner, I am unclear as to who is supposed to represent who in these images...

It's a trick question. BOTH pics could be gay men.

Straight women consistently find gay men MORE attractive.

Now, I'm not claiming it's genetic. Perhaps we simply take better care of our weight issues and grooming--not to mention our fashion, hair and trimmed and clean fingernails.

But at the end of the day, straight women always say: "Wow, I wish you (i.e., gay man) were straight," and when they walk into gay bars they say "OMG, these men (gay) are so f-ing hot!."

It's not really a question. Gay men are more attractive. I'd speculate it's because we put more time and effort into our bodies, hair, fashion and all around grooming.

Conversely, straight women are more attractive than lesbians. Even lesbians admit this.

Gay men are generally more attractive in relation to the population because straight men, while they may be very good looking in their youth, tend to let themselves go, or have more worries and problems once they marry, so they loose their looks extremely fast after they marry.

    YES!

Stress ages you. Look at Obama, or ANY President before and after office. It's not a normal 4 or 8 years. It's like a hyper-speed of 20 years in that time. Obama is gray haired now!

Straights have more stress, on average, than gays. Who, on average, tend to have more disposable income, less obligations (familial), and more opportunities to socialize (which greatly reduces stress, and is why--scientists postulate--moderate drinkers live longer than teetotalers.

Yes, gay men are attractive, more or less.

And regarding the pics Radd posted, I meet a LOT more gay men who look like the one on the right than the ones on the left. Virtually no str8 men I meet look like that, but a fair number of gay men do (and I live in a predominantly str8 area).

I think it's obvious. Manson (Brian) is one of the few straight men who dresses up like a woman, but a large number of gay men seem to jump at every excuse to do so. And I am not attracted to Manson in the least, but I do think he's a cool and interesting person. I can be friends with someone without being attracted to them.

∆ Those are all comedy roles.

Just curious why so many gay men do it for no reason at all. Not that I don't think they should be able to....just always been curious why the desire is so strong in so many gay men.

Up to a point now, I agree, but with the years of gentrification, lumbersexual, metrosexual and hipster of straight and gay men, its getting more difficult to tell the difference, everyone's gaydar is off the mark these days. Add that social conservatism is dying out, we don't have to look or be 'different' to separate ourselves from the straight men, in fact, many straight guys have followed gay mens trends. Today, I have met guys who claim they are straight and in a gay bar who come with their gay friends for drinks and socializing, but in a liberal city such as los angeles. You wont find that usually in the south or the Midwest where drag is still the most common.

I have found many young gays who have grown up in the south or Midwest, when they get old enough, move to the larger cities where segregation ended many years ago. In the larger, liberal cites, straight men are less intimidated by gay men, except of course that ole gym shower/naked avoidance thing where that seems to be the fear phenomena that was created by the social conservative movement.

Brokeback Mountain changed that perception of what gay men look or act like. The same with the recent Scruff app billboard ad that went up at this years super bowl. If you asked 15 years ago about the two guys in the Scruff ad, most people would think its a straight guy thing, some people still might not get it, because its not a stereo type that they are looking at. see Johnny Weir

Yes, I do understand that there are many gay men that put on the fem more than others. However, I think they stand out most so it just seems like a high number over do the fem. I think there are several reasons. I think there are a lot of gay men that are just naturally more feminine and I don't think they do it on purpose. I truly think that is just their nature. How many "straight" married men have you met in life that seem overly feminine, that just sort of leave you scratching your head. I've met a lot of them. But then there are also those gay men that are at the extreme and are very masculine, but yet they don't stand out, because society has taught us that is what a man is suppose to be. This is how society see's it now. Who knows what society will look like in the future.

    Here is a true story:

Before moving to the big city of LA, from the Midwest 14 years ago, I had no idea what a pair of low rise Diesel jeans were, up until my move, all I knew was Levi and Wrangler. My first pair of Diesel, fitted by a professional for my torso and leg length, was an instant change into the world of 'gay fashion'. Now, I see more straight guys wearing these jeans than ever before, they are almost universal now even though they still cost 3 times more as a pair of Levi's.

As someone who is a bit more on the androgynous/feminine side, I don't do it for attention or have some agenda. I've always been soft and feminine-like even though I did like to play sports (even if I wasn't good), get dirty, and play video games. When I came out of the closet (I really had no choice and got tired of people asking me), I just wanted to be me and that meant, also embracing my feminine traits as well as my creative outlet (my art and my sense of style).

To answer your question with a guess, I think that gay men are more prone not to suppress or hide their feminine traits because they don't feel the need to. Sure, some go way overboard with the lisping and acting like a "diva" but for all you know, that's how they can really be. So I just don't question it.

Well, I've also noticed quite a few STRAIGHT men who dress up as women at every opportunity - although, granted, their opportunities are much fewer and farther between.

In the very str8 beach town where I live I've commonly seen groups of str8 guys dressing up in matching womens' outfits for Halloween - as hula girls, Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, Budweiser girls, etc. And every summer there's a 6-man volleyball tournament where people dress in crazy costumes - there are always several male teams who choose to dress as chicks.

It's always done as a group, never as individuals. And it's obviously done for comedy. But I can't help wondering why SO MANY "str8" guys make that choice.

I'll suck a hot dick with the best of 'em, but I've never felt the slightest urge to dress in women's clothing in my life.
