I've watched anime since i was a child due to my mom so i've watched more japanese tv then western television probably (dubbed or subtitled to spanish fyi, can't speak a lick of japanese, she just liked japanese television and cinema) so here are my suggestions in somewhat of a best to least order but not that solidly arranged, and excluding the more major ones that are household names like One piece, Pokémon, Bleach, DBZ etc

Hands down the most balls to the walls actions series ever> the Black Lagoon series (Black Lagoon, BL:The Second Barrage, BL:Roberta's Blood Trail).

Tits with a plot> Highschool of The Dead.

Best anime Movies > Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Blue Exorcist: The Movie, Wolf Children, The Garden of Words, The Wind Rises, 5cm Per Second, Towa no Quon, HAL, Tokyo Godfathers (the feels), Paprika.

Generally okay-good action> Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Akame Ga Kill, Psycho-Pass, No Game No Life, Code Geass: Lelouch of The Rebellion, Btooom!, Accel World, Attack on Titan, Bounen no Zamned, Fate/Zero & Fate/Stay Night, Ga-rei: Zero, Shiki, Redline(movie), Kakumeiki no Valvrave series, Suisei no Gargantia, Soul Eater, Persona 4: The Animation.

Lots of blood, violence and dead people> Black Lagoon series,Death Note, Psycho-Pass, Attack on Titan, Mirai Nikki, Corpse Party, Another.

Adventure> Magi series, Fullmetal Alchemist series (the Brotherhood edition follows the manga and the former has an original story, brotherhood is better though), Log Horizon, InuYasha, Rave Master, Fairy Tail, Zatch Bell.

The f? > FLCL, Kyousou giga!, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.

Mysteryish> Psycho-Pass series, Ghost Hunt, Another, Danganronpa: The Animation, Robotics;Notes, Hyouka, Kamisama no Memochou, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, Gosick.

Actually intelligent, thought provoking or well written shows(most either excellent shows in general or really intelligent or thought provoking story lines)> Death Note, Shinsekai Yori(really good premise, heavily overlooked), Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Mawaru Penguindrum(really intelligent story, heavily overlooked), Trigun, Zankyou no Terror, No Game No Life, Nagi no Asukara, Steins;Gate, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Black Lagoon series, Psycho-Pass series, Zetsuen no Tempest.

Female character isn't either a bimbo or the damsel in distress> Saiunkoku Monogatari.

Slice of life or romance genres>Saiunkoku Monogatari,Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru, Little Busters! series, Robotics;Notes, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Golden Time, Kimi ni Todoke, Hyouka, Amagi Brilliant Park, Usagi Drop, Nisekoi, Hyouka, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, Oreimo series(incest alert), Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, Blue Exorcist, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Hanasaku Iroha, Hataraku Maou-sama, Star Driver, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai series.

Best romance (really slow but good)> Kimi ni Todoke

Vampire show and not lame> Helsing series, Shiki (good, generally overlooked).

Dystopian future setting> Psycho-Pass series, Shinsekai Yori, Trigun.

The feels> Mawaru Penguindrum, Shinsekai Yori, The Wind Rises, Tokyo Godfathers, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Fullmetal Alchemist series, Wolf Children, Akame Ga Kill.

My favorite anime to date> Mawaru Penguindrum

I'm Watching a couple that you didn't list so I'll just throw it out there:

    A little gory: Parasyte-The Maxim

    A bit Etchi: Trinity Seven

4-5minute long episodes: RWBY (sure the Episodes are short, but the action scenes are GREAT!!)

Mystery: Case Closed (There are a LOT of episodes, but they are fun)

Funny/Sad and def an Older Title: Chrono Crusade

You have good taste for visually stunning work as i can see, i suggest you watch the short film Garden of Words, it's very very slow and boring to most people but it was intentional since it's meant to be grounded in realism but the animation is exceptionally beautiful.

Oh i wanna watch Parasyte but i hate the suspense of waiting a week in between episodes so i usually only watch a series once the season or show has aired unless it's something long-running like Naruto

And RWBY is actually anime-style western like the Avatar series is

And i would suggest Kissanime.com it's the one i use, has a huge library and the videos are high quality as well as being mobile device friendly, i stopped using crunchyroll a long time ago because although legal their library is very small and they won't stream anything that's not western licensed and some unlicensed work like Hyouka are very good.
