I apologize for not noticing the date of the article when I read it. I had an extremely busy day. What can I say...it was a human error.

    From the article:

"Is the GOP hatred for gays so pervasive that they could really be this cold and heartless?"

Yes. That's what many of us have been saying about Republicans for years. And here's more evidence for it.

And if you counter that I'm generalizing, the standard Right Wing defense, I'll reply that when you vote for one Republican you vote for them all, when they attain a legislative majority thanks to your votes. And so you're voting for THIS.

These types of ridiculous challenges are what I've been trying to tell everyone were coming. These are desperate acts of people struggling to find a way to dominate the issue of gay and marriage equality. Repealing protections for gay state employees in one state, banning them from hospital visitations in another, attempting to keep them from inheriting in others, banning them from adopting, working with children, and who the fuck knows what else...

And when they have run out of all their stupid options they'll show just how stupid they can be and resort to violence as they have in the past not once, not twice but every time they have exhausted all peaceful avenues to impose their religious bigotry on the general population.

Oh dear, the automated Metta8 headline and link copy and paste machine must have had a data glitch. I suggest its keeper reset the date/time setting on the automated Metta8 unit so that we will continue to get a steady stream of CURRENT leftist propaganda, as opposed to stuff from 5 years ago.

Thanks for the newer link with current stats and info FreedomisntFree.

Yeah. It sure puts a more positive spin on Scott Walker's currently evolving reality based stand on gay equality in the light that 63% of Wisconsin supports it.

There's more to be gained for gays by throwing support to a republican with no popular option but to support it than to act adversarial to him.

Welcome. Metta 8 just ruined Bobby's happy hour for nothing.

I was gonna say that in spite of being real busy, I'm generally a little more up to speed on topics such as this. Given that the Metta RSS feed reports this as 'today's' news and I haven't heard of this for years so that got me to check a little closer. Actually, pretty easy to find given that the date is top dead center in the article.

Long past time to stop mocking Metta, gents. Unlike some of us, he's done nothing to you. Nothing. Never called you a name. Never mocked or jeered your all-too-mockable politics, nada. Zip. And yet you think it's good manners to continue your stream of abuse.
What was that about how you like to keep these conversations civil? I can't hear you over the drip drip drip of your Metta-mockery.

I appreciate Meta8 for taking the time to scour news sources for the threads he starts.

However, from now on I'll start double checking dates as i've learned to do on most threads.

I saw one newsy topic on the board earlier today and almost commented on it until I saw that it was started in 2012.

I'm not a conservative by any means. But saying that denying hospital visitation rights is the step right before lynch mobs and gas chambers is a bit of an over reaction.
We (gays) are winning. The world is becoming more secular and socially liberal. Which doesn't mean there isn't more work to do but really the chicken little stuff gets tiresome.

Pay no attention to Art Deco's nonsensical blabbing about "all republicans " being anti-gay. That is baseless bullshit. Several republican leaders are slowly and steadily evolving on the gay equality issue and realizing how dead wrong the religious right wing is on this social issue. If the extremist liberal hens on here would only get out of their ultra leftist fantasyland and stop being such blind sycophants to the democratic blue, probably we can have a pleasant political discussion rather than going at each other's throats. icon_wink.gif

    "denying hospital visitation rights"

Yeah, but of all things, just from a humanistic point of view, this should be welcomed and encouraged.

I'm disappointed that Scott Walker felt this way years ago and I'm happy that he's changed his views.

Why hasn't the automated Metta8 copy and paste unit at the very least AMENDED THE TITLE of this seriously out of date topic?

There's been ample time and response to the topic since the automated Metta8 unit posted it.

    Either:

    a) The automated Metta8 unit is not programmed to process input (other's posts) to the topics that it posts and therefore is unaware that several people have pointed out that this topic is woefully out of date

    or

    b) The fact that this topic is out of date is irrelevant to the automated Metta8 copy and paste unit, as the topic portrays a Republican in a negative light and therefore it meets the objectives of the automated Metta8 unit to post leftist propaganda that is pro-Democrat, pro-liberal, pro-progressive, anti-Republican and anti-conservative.

I went a few rounds over email with Metta8 regarding the topic late last night so he's chosen to not change it.

    This.

Metta8 is informative. Some of the articles are fluff, or I don't care for them. But I see a LOT of LGBT news I otherwise would likely not see because of Metta8's references and re-directs. "The Advocate" and various LGBT news organizations don't cover everything, usually just the larger stuff.

I don't agree with Art Deco all the time, but on the important issues beneath his vinegar and piss against Republicans I usually agree to some degree.

However, you can change a few nouns in his rants and use the same adverbs and adjectives against Democrats. Anyone who believes Democrats are less guilty of the same things they accuse Republicans of is looking at reality through a keyhole.

The day Republicans mollify their efforts against gay marriage you can bet the Democrats will run to the 5 items or less checkout line to do the same. That's politics as usual. The only reason Democrats or Republicans support or don't support an issue is to create controversy to divide the electorate. That's what keeps them in business; divisive politics.

Behind the scenes all of them spend more time strategizing how they can best create issues to polarize the voting public than they actually spend on solving problems that would benefit the people who both vote for them and endure the consequences of their manipulative theatrics to stay in power.

This is why it is time to end the democrat -republican duopoly in all levels of American governance. This county is in dire need of fresh new ideas and a whole different and more cooperative approach to enacting public policy. Enough of the childish, unprofessional conquer and divide that obviously are the specialty of both the democratic and republican parties. We definitely need to pull this great country back together again.

Scott Walker's "evolution" on marriage equality is that he no longer talks about it. He has never said one word that indicates he considers gay Americans to be deserving of equal treatment under the law... in fact, he has said and written many things to the contrary, supporting laws that persecute people for being gay.
He's also probably the most corrupt governor in America right now, having been bought and paid for by the sleazy Koch brothers.

he had to bust these public employee unions because they were bankrupting the state of Wisconsin. these public employee unions are corrupt beyond belief and think that the taxpayers owe them a life of luxury. If any governor needs to be vetted for corruption, it is New York governor Andrew cuomo since he suddenly disbanded the Moreland commission which was suppose to clean out all the corruption in the Albany statehouse. However, since New York is a staunch blue democratic state, it just burns your ass that it is not only the highest taxed but also the most corrupt state in the country.
