Oshkosh, WI is going to host its first ever marathon this year on April 19. Average temp on this date is a cool 52 degrees, so perfect temps for a marathon. This marathon will be an official Boston qualifier. The course will include the newly completed Tribal Heritage Crossing, which connects to the state Wiouwash Trail. Organizers have always had a vision for a full marathon. The problem was creating a 26.2 mile marathon course within a city that is divided by a railroad that is used excessively by a train system.

The Tribal Heritage Trail will offer runners 11 kiosk overlooks of the Lake Butte Des Mort’s causeway. If they choose to stop at any of these 11 points they can also read about the use of this waterway of Native American Tribes with information on the natural history of those tribes.

According to Ben West, Race Director, “We are excited to give runners an opportunity to experience the serenity and beauty of the Wiouwash Trail and the trail's softer surface gives your body a break, too. It is so conducive for a marathon distance of 26.2 miles.” You can get more info and register at this link:

Sounds great. Also consider the Maritime Marathon starting in Manitowoc to Two Rivers and back -- great course and support.
