Openly gay professional bodybuilders

I've been getting into bodybuilding. And lately I wonder if there are any pro bodybuilders that are actually openly gay. I mean given their physique, I wouldn't be surprised at all if any of them ever came out. Plus why be a homophobe when you know with a physique like that you're definitely going to be getting a lot of attention filled with looks and catcalls, especially from gay men. Who out there is openly gay and looking to become ifbb pro certified?

I don't think it matters. Times have changed. There are a handful of gay semi/pro bodybuilders that are out but don't prance around with pride color posing trunks. Also, many straight bodybuilders do videos and pose for pictures in publications that cater to gay men. And of course there are the ones that go all way and do the gay-for-pay porn thing.

Competitive bodybuilding has a lot to do with politics. If you come out as gay and one of the judges for whatever reason doesn't like gay men your not going to be doing good in that competition. Its just one more thing that could be used against you. This is a little different but Kai Greene used to (maybe still does) do gay for pay and he has a video on the internet of him fucking a grapefruit. Because of that video he will never win the mr. olympia competition. On a side not bodybuilding is the gayest sport there is. I mean it's all about staring at other mens physiques and picking which one you like the best.

    Bob Paris.

And I have my suspicions about Con Demetriou but he may just be one of many pro bodybuilders who are Gay-For-Pay.

I clearly remember when Bob Paris came out in 1989. The media frenzy along with the fierce homophobic gossip about him just ripped across the U.S. like wildfire. Especially from the southern states, the hatred towards Bob Paris over this minor revelation was horribly frightening. He had his sizable number of supporters and fans but unfortunately the dumb homophobic bigots outnumbered them. He paid the price when leading bodybuilding magazines slowly but steadily avoided him altogether. I remember when musclemag international did a photo cover of Bob Paris with his soulmate Rod Jackson in I think in 1990, oh shit, the ignorance and hatred that blew out of the U.S. especially the southern states to the editors at Musclemag International was swift and harsh. I clearly remember the editors saying that this cover photo caused no problems in Europe and Canada but they said that the USA is not ready for two muscular men scantily clothed to grace the front cover of any publication. It will never be accepted in the USA I remember them saying in response to all the negative feedback. We have come a long way since 1989.

Will Harris and Mike Ergas are openly gay IFBB pros. I'm sure there are a few others, but it's still a surprisingly homophobic sport despite being pretty much the gayest sport in the world. There are a lot of others who are probably gay, but are very circumspect or deny it flat-out. Nick Trigili comes to mind. Unlike a lot of guys that just do solo vids, he actually did an m4m video when he was younger. Antoine Vaillant hangs out with gay porn stars, but maybe he's just cool. I enjoy thinking about these guys, of course, but ultimately I don't care who they're sleeping with. My hope is that eventually it'll just be about the quality of their physiques and not whether they're gay or not. There are certainly more of them who are gay than we know.

Bodybuilding must be the biggest gay sport there is. That is, it attracts the gay crowd as the biggest supporters there is. Whether the bodybuilders themselves are gay is open to question.
But there is some connection to the gay life style, such as admiration of the male body, frequent preening in front of the mirror, an obsession about one's looks, wearing tight and colorful briefs (and G-strings, pouches, posing straps, etc.), shaving one's body, going to extremes or excess by overdeveloping the body, etc. These are what gay men do, and so do bodybuilders.
Joe Weider and Bob Hoffman, the two gurus who promoted bodybuilding contests, continued a hateful rivalry that didn't reflect well on bodybuilding. Weider admitted bodybuilding attracted gays, but he said the bodybuilders themselves weren't gay. (Ahem) Hoffman accused Weider of publishing gay magazines (Body Beautiful, Adonis, Young Physique, etc.) and said he was getting out of the contest business because they were "sissified things." And he denounced Weider for trying to produce "monsters."
A psychologist who appeared on The Mike Douglas Show, which I did not see but read about, after an appearance by Steve Michalik said something to the effect that "bodybuilders are immature individuals who have to overcompensate in order to mask deep-seated insecurities." Hmmmmm.
I recently read a book on Groucho Marx in which Mae West is quoted as saying, "The musclemen in my nightclub act? They were all homos. Oh, what a waste of manpower that was."
