Researchers from Cambridge University have found that it is possible to make a baby using the skin cells of parents of the same sex.

    Here's the article http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/02/23/babies-with-two-biological-same-sex-parents-could-become-a-reality-in-just-two-years/

How do you feel about this?

I think it's great! As long as there's no increased risk for health problems/deformities, I'm all for it.

If they can all be genetically modified to look like the OP, I see no problem with it. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks, but it takes more than GMO to make me lol jk icon_razz.gif

On a serious note, I wonder 1.) How many couples will do it if it becomes available.
2.)What could the long term effects be on the baby/child.
3.) And what happens if a couple goes through with it then break up some time after...

I'm all for same-sex couples being parents. There's no better way, IMO, to conquer the hate and bigotry than to raise a new generation of kids where same-sex parenting is just as normal as hetero parenting...

But there are already so many children out there in the world that need love, nurture, and support and aren't getting it in orphanages globally... must we really strive to manufacture babies for the sole purpose of satisfying the ego of of the parents wanting a child that's a genetic match?

There's gotta be a word for that level of selfishness and arrogance....

I agree about there being plenty of children who could be adopted, but I disagree that wanting a biological child is selfish. Part of human nature is to want "your line" to continue. And for those with small families it only stresses the need for a biological child even more at the risk of ending that line/surname.

For me, I would think one of the best things about a child is seeing yourself in the child. When he/she does something that you did as a child, or has a shared interest, then it just makes it a neat experience.
