Not an unsold seat in the 2,743 seat symphony hall last night. What a show. She is amazing. First time I've ever seen her live. Great hearing a real singer who knows how to sing. Good seeing so many, many of the gay population of the Bay Area - in couples, trios, groups of four and more. Everybody looked great, and turned out to see Patti (many had seen her a number of times). The whole theater was full of guys, and maybe a quarter of the audience were women. If you get a chance when she comes to your city - go!

"In her new, critically-acclaimed concert Far Away Places, two-time Tony Award winner (Gypsy, Evita) Patti LuPone shares her penchant for wanderlust by taking us on a musical journey with thrilling renditions of songs by an eclectic list of songwriters which include Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Willie Nelson, Kurt Weill, Edith Piaf, and Frederick Hollander." (per the S.F. Chronicle)

"Patti LuPone generates more raw excitement than any other performer on Broadway. She embodies decades of show business history." —Stephen Holden, The New York Times

Conceived and directed by Scott Wittman
    Musical arrangements by Joseph Thalken

Hmph. Now if you'd told us about a performance by Beyoncé that you had seen in that case we'd sit up and pay attention!   icon_rolleyes.gif

^^^^^I guess Beyonce draws a bigger audience? Well, okay. But I don't think I've ever seen so many great looking members of the male population in one place in my whole life, as I saw in the nearly 3,000 people in the Patti Lupone audience. So good seeing so many well dressed, well groomed guys of all ages, but especially 30's, 40's 50's. We sat in the second row and could see Patti's expressions. Working to a full house of so many good looking guys.........she was happy!
