Treadmill -VS- Stairs

Hey Jockers, I want to lose some of the midsection fat that I've acquired after hibernating this winter, and was wondering which cardio exercise was the more effective/better to do it with. Would this be better achieved using a treadmill or a by walking/running the stairs (actual stairs, not a machine. My building is 7 stories).

From what I understand, the treadmill will probably burn more calories because it takes longer to get fatigued on, but the stairs (on top of being a quicker workout) will help grow and tone my legs and my ass. While the fat loss is priority, the bigger butt is something I would also like to have.

    Thoughts?

Do both for variety but I think you'll get the most of the treadmill work IF you walk at an incline that you vary from 5 to the max of 15 degrees.

Vary the speed as well so that you can maintain your workout for at least 20 minutes.

I like real stairs if you have access to them. If I haven't done them in a while I use no weight. But after getting used to the soreness I carry a 25lb plate on my back and slowly progress to a 45lb plate. It's a great workout and less boring than the treadmill.

The condo I live in is 7 stories, so I have lots of stairs to run up and down. I think this is the route Im going to take.
