I really want to go too - never been. Markus Schulz, my favourite DJ, always goes and I'm dying to see him live.

Is there any gay element / area /. tent at any of the events? Just curious.

i used to go every year, when i worked for a&m records. it is one of the MOST fun things you will ever do. you get to hear some of the best djs in the world AND hear some of the newest music (usually premiered) in the clubs. i went again two years ago and STILL had fun. PLUS - you're in south beach - how can you NOT have fun??? i hope you have a great time!!

I didn't see a list of exhibitors for this year, only previous, don't know if there'll be an "official" gay presence. Gay clubs have mostly left Miami Beach/South Beach, though it remains gay friendly. The main venue is at the Miami Beach Resort & Spa, where there isn't the street life you see further south along Ocean Drive, in the heart of South Beach and the Art Deco District. If anyone goes I'd enjoy meeting up for cocktails somewhere, might arrive on the red Vespa. LOL!

Forgot to mention: if you do come down to Miami Beach, the main venue is on Collins Avenue. Stay on that going north for about 5-6 miles, and check out Haulover Beach, part of it legally nude with an informal gay section at the north end. icon_biggrin.gif

I've always had mixed feelings about WMC. All my friends who have gone have basically said its near impossible to find music that is not house or trance, which would drive me insane. Plus I'm more into grassroots electronic music scenes and not into the plastic, corporate, "hot chicks laying on lambourghinis in front of the conference" part of the scene.

THAT SAID, every year there is a show called The Future Sound of Breaks that I would love to go to. This year tons of the hottest breaks, dnb and dubstep acts are playing all one show. I would LOVE to go to that.

Plus you are in Miami, which would be nice.

Miami BEACH, to be accurate. They are two entirely different cities.

Yes, I will be there. I'll be there with my super hot, straight best friend.

If any veterans would like to help out some first-timers, let me know.

It's been soooo long since I've been to any type of party.

OMFG I WANT TO GO SOOOOO FUCKING BAD BUT I CANT THIS YEAR CUZ MY ASS IS BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!

I went in 2007 & 2008 and had SO MUCH FUCKING FUN.

um...anyone want to pay for my plane tix & hotel? icon_cool.gif

And Red Vespa, no this is not a gay event but is gay friendly and in fact I would say no one really gives a shit about your sexual orientaiton here. There's plenty of gay people (DJs & attendees) at this, but most of them don't go out of their way to annouce their sexual orientation because this event is about house & trance music first and foremost. This event attracts mostly European, Guidos, and Ravers (or people who used to attend raves). So it's mostly a gen X / gen Y event. Much of them (I'd say half) are fucked up on drugs (mostly alcohol & ecstacy). So if anything you'll end up making out with a straight Italian from Brooklyn while his girlfriend is throwing up in the bathroom.

    Good times.

The music at Ultrafest is electrifying! Even my friends that were new to trance music, had a blast and keep coming back for more.

Tex is right, everyone is super friendly. When some rain came down last year, me and my boy took our shirts off and cuddled while jamming to Sander Kleinenberg. A few minutes later, we were surrounded by hot, wet bodies and two studs I thought were straight started making out too.

    Reminds me of this:

I was really only referring to the climate, not because I think Miami (or Miami Beach) is that awesome. Been a couple times.

Is that gain for Ultra itself? If so, 20 lbs in two months?
