    Somebody should have done it a long time ago - like when the Iraquis started looting their own museums.

    A bit late now - the horse is already gone.

    I'm sure it has all been photographed. If we really want the art, it can probably be reproduced using 3-D printers etc. Maybe looking even better than the way it did. Could also put artists to work re-creating it.

    The loss of the library in Mosul was a huge tragedy for mankind. So many ancient documents that had not been fully explored. The world will never be the same, this madness appears to be growing every day.

    Someone (if the government officials had any brains at all) has probably photographed all the ancient documents in the library, so it's not like the burning of the Alexandria library.

    I read that they did not even know all the things that were in there. It was a treasure to be explored. Now burned it seems.
