They are developing methods that in as little as two years will allow gay men to reproduce with each other. Would you use it if it were available? What do you think the potential ethical and societal issues would arise from it ?

It's possible. They just need a donor egg, then remove the mother's DNA and insert the DNA from one dude. Then fertilize the egg with the sperm from the other dude. Then implant the fertilized egg into a surrogate mother.

I think it's an awesome step up on the evolutionary ladder for reproduction.

Cloning still has a long way to go. This relatively new technology may be the catapult that's needed for people of the same gender to reproduce together naturally (in the next few thousand years).

And, if it is successful, it would totally disprove any concept of a god that was ever written, because humanity outsmarted the very being that supposedly created humans as two genders so we could reproduce. icon_wink.gif

Evolution is something that occurs naturally so I wouldn't really call it evolution.

Nowhere does the definition of evolution say NATURAL and even if it did, this new technology would force us to change that definition.

I've done the kid thing so don't especially want to start down that road again but I would consider it. If my partner wanted to, I absolutely would. Since I'm not on the young end of the scale, I'd want some assurance that my DNA wouldn't give the kid some issue. I've heard that this method actually can deal with that potential problem but I haven't studied it.

Yeah, I've read a news article about this about 1-2 years ago. Hopefully they'll be able to make it possible.

No, natural selection is one of evolution's mechanisms. Also, spontaneous mutation.

Calling natural selection a synonym of evolution is like saying a major chord progression is a synonym for Rock.

Nature gave us the ability to think and use tools which has driven our evolution for thousands of years. This is no different.

OR, did God create us with the intelligence to one day come up with this technology?

So what if two bear daddies made a baby girl? Would she end up a bearded lady or what?

It's an interesting idea but I like to think being gay is natures way of population control.
There's millions of orphaned baby's in need. Just let the breeders be breeders. We're overpopulated as-is.
