Having seen a previous post here of this lovely lesbian couple, I predict they'll ask the prosecutor or court for leniency. And that they'll reconcile with this young man who did this, their nearby neighbor.

I can believe it was just drunken stupidity, as the couple seems to believe. Many dumb college pranks happen the same way.

If so, I think that will send a more positive gay message to the wider community. I'd like to follow how this is resolved.

A stupid, drunken prank is one thing but doing total destruction to someone's property is totally unwarranted. This young man needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Burning that neighbors pride flag could have ignited a fire on the house itself. What is the matter with some young adults these daysicon_question.gif

Please explain how burning the flag could have ignited the house since the flag was stolen from the house before it was burned.

Correct - it wasn't burned on their house. First he stole it, then he lit it and ran down the street with it, according to eyewitness reports. Stupid drunken prank. He should be punished, but commensurate with the crime. And as I said above, I think this lesbian couple (and don't they make a lovely pair?) will likely argue against any severe penalty being imposed. They seem pretty calm & reasonable about it. Good!

Probably a fine of a few hundred dollars would be appropriate.

That sounds reasonable to me, with no jail time, just a misdemeanor and not a felony. And him apologizing to the couple, which I think they would graciously accept, with their neighborhood all friendly & peaceful once more. icon_biggrin.gif
